I'm Okay - Edwin Betancourt Jr.

    A Hazard

There you go again, dancing in the dark.

Dying in the heat because you’re afraid to swim with sharks.

Can’t you see a piece of your heart is dying daily?

You’d rather carry the pitchfork than burn at the stake.

I get it, I got it, your silence is loud,

Now hear me and see me, I’m a hazard and proud!

You hide your radiant sunshine and colorful rainbow,

So the storm clouds hide what you don’t want them to know.

You have created this persona that isn’t human or true,

When you're standing over my broken body, who’s standing beside you?

I get it, I got it, your silence is loud,

Now hear me and see me, I’m a hazard and proud!

Many of us have fallen at the hands of society,

A world where our paradise is something we shouldn’t dream.

We’re told to be normal and live in their silent pain,

Normal you say? I’d rather live amongst the insane.

I’m a hazard because I choose to love another man.

    I’m a hazard because I’m taking a stand.

I’m a hazard because your hypocrisy can’t hurt me,

I’m a hazard because unlike you, I am free.

I get it, I got it, your silence is loud,

Now hear me and see me, I’m a hazard and proud!

    Silent Screams

    Shattered beams,

    Shattered dreams.

Nothing can ever stitch the seams.

    Crimson streams,

    No loyal dreams.

This game called life has no redeems.

    Shattered beams,

    Shattered dreams.

Can anyone hear my silent screams?

    Cinderella

Have you heard the story about Cinderella?

She wore rags for clothes and lived in the cellar.

One fateful night the Charmings were having a ball,

She cried and her Fairy Godmother she did call.

She partied until midnight leaving her glass slipper behind,

The Prince knew this shoe was a Happily Ever After sign.

Unfortunately, Cinderella’s stepmom found out the truth,

Cinderella disobeyed her and now this day she will rue!

Poor stepmom had no idea Cinderella was not sane,

That night stepmom closed her eyes to never awaken again.

The step sisters were found one headless and the other burned,

It didn’t take long to see Cinderella’s dark turn.

The story about a Fairy Godmother concocting a dress was a lie.

The truth is, she stole the dress and shoes from a boutique without batting an eye!

Poor thing imagined a life where she’s married to the Prince with a bunch of babies,

But that dream was a hallucination
