A Desperately Needed Make Over
The audience looked at the photos and grimaced
at the ghastly condition of the dejected slob.
Most wanted to help; some wanted out of there.
They were told the person really was a good person,
but just didn't know how to take care of themselves.
The project began with detailed documentation.
Wash and polish.
Scrub and detoxify.
Trim the fingernails.
Cut and shape the straggly hair
into a better easy-to-care-for style.
Washing the clothes wasn't enough.
New clothes – practical and attractive –
were purchased.
They even fit.
The slumped over slob
started to sit a little straighter
and stand a little taller.
He no longer had to dodge the
offensive, belittling, judgmental looks
with each new thing that was done.
The kind words were more transformative
than anything else.
The grand finale was spectacular
He was cleaner and brighter
than anyone thought possible.
Everyone clapped and cheered
at the miraculous and positive make over
of this much-in-need abandoned soul.
The message is so very clear!
The problem was seen
The problem was acknowledged
A decision was made
Action was taken
Kindness magnified the effectiveness.
Results were amazing.
Now think bigger.
Much bigger.
Extrapolate.
Our planet needs a make over.
What can YOU do?

A Mighty Metaphor For Muddy Emotions
Little Sammy stood
Declaring ever so loud
I washed all by myself!
He was incredibly proud.
An inspection ensued
By his mother dear
Who confirmed with grace
That his face was indeed clear.
Now all that messy mud
That on his face had been spread,
Lay blatantly on his washcloth
Like dark and grimy lead.
Exuberant and unaware
Little Sammy still stood
Ankle deep in drainage mud
And did what every little boy would:
He jumped for joy
With a yell and a squeal
And couldn't understand
Why it was a big deal.

Fly With Me!
Fly with me
No plane
No jet
No apparatus of any kind
Just fly
Above the seas
Above the cities'
Tall buildings and long bridges
Hold your breath
Above the spewing factories
Deep breathe
Over mountain ranges
No fairy dust
Nor Peter Pan
No charted course
To limit us
Keep lifting up
And up and up
To the wondrous
And the new
Way beyond the atmosphere
Allow yourself to see
Don't even attempt to explain
Just be
Look back at earth
That blue marble in space
How beautiful it seems
From afar
The barely visible
Grid lines of light
Glow coherency
Into the world
Look up and see
Magnificent overseeing angels
Offering their wisdom
And love
They're counting on you
– On each of us –
To spread more light
And peace
Fill your heart
With thankful awe
And remember it
Every day

GMO Appeal
Why is it that some people
Think they can outsmart nature?
They gather big money behind them
Making them richer and ruining our future
The GMO tomato skins
Are shinier and hardly bruise
Wheat stalks filled with chemicals are bigger
So the chemical company can't lose
What are GMO's really?
Genetically Modified Organism?
No.
Gutted Mutilated Ouch
Designed to fill corporate's
Money pouch
Our grocery stores are full of
Genetically modified corn
From which no new corn
Can be born
