Dual Citizenship - Bo Jackson
Introduction
Count Me IN
Dual citizenship or multiple citizenship is when a single person is legally recognized as a citizen of two or more countries at the same time.
As we begin to explore the subject of dual citizenship, we must first consider the question: Do we truly know who we are in Christ?
It is possible that we can be IN church and yet not be IN Christ. It is also possible to be a Christian, yet not experience the benefits of the Kingdom! The Bible states: Therefore, if any man be IN Christ, he is a NEW creature: old things have passed away; behold, all things are become new.
(1 Corinthians 5:17) To experience the benefit of this verse there must be a careful examination of ourselves to determine, if we are truly IN Christ. Why is this important? Because becoming
new is a process that many Christians refuse to explore. New perspective, new philosophy, new visions, new goals, and new ideas are just a few benefits that accompany being IN Christ. Notice the bible did NOT say, if any man be IN church. Being a member of a physical church body does not automatically qualify you as being a member of the Body of Christ. I think we have misjudged people on the basis of their tenure in church and not their representation of the Kingdom...but I digress...that’s another book!
Chapter 1
IN Christ vs. IN Church
We must understand this simple principle... are you ready for it? The principle is this...being a Christian is an individual decision. In other words, the choice is YOURS! It is a decision to believe IN HIM or deny HIM; to receive HIM or reject HIM; to allow Jesus Christ to be the Lord and Savior of your life or control your own path and follow your own way of thinking which is limited and flawed. The word of God makes it clear that being IN Christ is an individual decision. Your mother, father, pastor, deacon so and so, mother with the huge hat, the neighbor you always have to turn to, the choir director, the mean usher, nor the musician who has not learned how to properly play a hymn, can make the decision for you. The choice is yours and yours alone!
Let’s go further, when we speak of being IN Christ, this is not something done TO US, but it is something that is done IN US, so the power of God can be demonstrated THROUGH US! When we are born again, we have made the decision to accept HIM into our lives and as a result, we have become ONE and UNITED with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit begins to perform a work IN us.
It is IN HIM I live...
It is IN HIM I move...
It is IN HIM I have my being.
What does that mean? Ultimately, this means that being IN HIM gives me an unfair advantage. Side note: I want you to do me a favor right now and tell yourself, I have an unfair advantage.
Your age does not matter!
Your race does not matter!
Your gender does not matter!
Your economic status does not matter!
Your political affiliation does not matter!
Your past does not matter!
Your present does not matter!
What matters is being IN Christ gives you an instant and unfair advantage because the Holy Spirit resides IN you! Your enemies cannot stop you because they do not like you...they do not have an opinion regarding the favor of God on your life. You made the individual decision to be IN Christ and as a result, you have the GREATER ONE living on the inside of you!
"But because of HIS great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—-it is by grace (favor) you have been saved. (Ephesians 2:4-5)
It is my prayer that this book will prompt you to come alive. Life is not about existing, it is about living...and the decision to be IN Christ, gives you the opportunity to LIVE! So, LIVE!
Although being IN Christ is an individual decision, it simultaneously thrusts us into a larger community of people called the body of Christ. Now, I must warn you that I LOVE words and I make up my own definitions, so throughout this book you may read a few words and phrases that are a part of my personal dictionary. Okay! Don’t judge me! The first phrase I want to define is The Body of Christ!
For the purposes of this book, the body of Christ is defined as a group of individuals who have made the decision to live, move, breathe, and be IN Christ and through no effort of their own have been knitted and joined together with likeminded individuals whose purpose is to recreate the KINGDOM of heaven, here-—on earth! The body of Christ is NOT a doctrine; it is a realm in the spirit. It is not simply a teaching, but a lifestyle. It is not simply a bunch of religious buildings with a congregation and a pastor...it is a God instituted living organism made up of people who are called to perform a purpose within the body so that it can function properly. Only a revelation from God will usher us into this realm of the Body, and through this revelation regarding the Body of Christ we must become what we experience. It gives us the ability to experience life in a totally different realm. The church was never meant to be a place where we simply gather; instead, it is where the Body of Christ should learn how to establish HIS KINGDOM here on earth. The building where we gather is where we receive instruction, strategy, revelation, and recovery. It is a place where we find family and create the future. At least that should be the intended goal. You should never attend a physical church building and leave empty-handed. A shout is not enough. A dance is not enough. A great choir is not enough. A praise is not enough. A run is not enough. A song is not enough. A good cry is not enough. Shout, dance, cry, run, praise, sing AND leave with a greater knowledge of how to build the KINGDOM. There were seasons in my life where I attended church for years and did not grow IN CHRIST one bit. The music was on point, but the preaching did not challenge me in my Kingdom walk. I was not compelled to go home and re-study and re-think my entire life! I was not challenged to become greater on the inside, only the outside. I was not told how GOD sees me and what
