Poetry is about finding beauty in the details of one's day-to-day life and inspiring others to do the same. A world as beautiful and poetic like this is wasted when someone chooses to overlook a flower growing at the corner of the pavement or ignore the sweet songs that birds compose and perform sing.

    Moon Child - Rushali Mukherjee

    Preface

Since the birth of this beautiful form of writing, poetry has always been about penning down the abstract and giving it a tactile form. Poetry doesn’t require a certain tangible shape to stand tall among the other forms of literary art. Poetry is about finding beauty in the details of one’s day-to-day life and inspiring others to do the same. A world as beautiful and poetic like this is wasted when someone chooses to overlook a flower growing at the corner of the pavement or ignore the sweet songs that birds compose and perform sing.

I began writing poetry a few years ago for the same reason—to make others realise how much they are missing out by not observing and appreciating the world around them. I wanted to convey my deepest feelings and beliefs through this medium. Writing poetry by glass windows, as sunlight streams in and falls on my notebook, has always been a very personal activity of mine and each day I spend by those windows, I learn to better channel my emotions into through this very pristine art form.

My book, ‘Moon Child’ consists of a collection of carefully handpicked poems along with my hand-drawn sketches. I hope these succeed in capturing the very essence of my poetry. I hope it helps you appreciate the little things in life, makes you take up a pen the very pen only thing that defeats the mighty iron sword, and influences you to write about your own observations.

    They call me Moon Child

Because every time I look at the moon

It reminds me of the people I love
