CHAPTER 1
I t's a trap!
Russel insisted when he learned about what happened in Mark's school. He rose from his seat and stood beside the second floor window of the antique shop. He looked outside and saw the street lamp posts lighting up. Night was descending again to West Point District. Shop owners were trying their best to catch the attention of prospective customers from people walking along the streets. Most of them had just gotten out of their offices and schools and were intent in finding what they needed in this business district of the city before going home for the night.
Of course, it's a trap,
agreed Virgil without looking at him. Her eyes remained glued to her laptop's monitor. She had been searching the internet the whole day, looking for information about the Eunice 43 train. It is clear as day that Adria wants Mark to go to that train because Purus Sanguis is planning something. What I can't figure out is there is no such thing as Eunice 43 train in the city of Radford. I even checked cross country trains, but I still can't find this train.
She was frowning, adding more lines to her already lined forehead.
Russel noticed that his sister looked every inch her sixty plus years. Or could it be just because of the fading light? For ten years, Virgil's three forms never aged and remained suspended in time. There's no reason for Virgil's old form to start ageing now.
Virgil wearily leaned back on her chair, took off her reading glasses and let out a loud sigh.
I don't get it. What is the Eunice 43 train? What are the Purus Sanguis people trying to tell us?
If you know that this is a trap, why are you still looking for that train? I can drive to Rigor's place and get another ring for Mark. We don't need to find or go to this Eunice 43 train at all.
Virgil turned to look at him.
I'm ahead of you, brother. When I realized how effective Rigor's creations were, I ordered two extra rings for Mark in case the one he's using gets lost or destroyed.
You're really amazing, sis!
he praised her.
Both of them heard the footsteps climbing up the stairs. Russel first thought it belonged to either Joseph or Leon who were currently manning the store below. He was surprised to find that the footsteps belonged to Camilla.
He felt uneasy. As much as possible, he wanted to avoid meeting the demoness. He let Mark dealt with the demoness since he was the one who decided to let her live. Mark was after all her master as long as the pentagram-shaped mark on her body remained. Mark could summon and control her with that mark.
Hello, Russel,
Camilla said when her eyes settled on him. I heard you became a demon,
she taunted and laughed.
Don't worry, I'm back to normal, so I won't be needing any demoness girlfriend,
he said sarcastically.
Camilla always hated it when Mark teased her as being his girlfriend. Russel thought he would get the same reaction from her. But it didn't happen. She simply smiled and gave him a look he wasn't prepared to see.
He glanced at Virgil to make her aware of Camilla's strange behavior. But Virgil failed to notice what Camilla did. His sister was once again focused on the screen of her laptop.
Camilla passed beside him. He wasn't sure if it was just an accident or her long hair had purposely touched the front of his jeans. Camilla could use her hair like a hand. It could grab and attack anything she wanted. And Russel clearly felt himself grabbed!
The demoness headed straight to the couch and sat cross-legged. She was wearing a sleeveless blouse that clung tightly to her curves and had a neckline showing her cleavage. Her shorts were of that style wherein the waistline was way below the waist and too high up her thighs, leaving nothing to the imagination.
Camilla always wore sexy and revealing clothes. She was proud of her beautiful body maintained young by her daily consumption of life force from humans and animals, the latter being the case now because of Mark's strict rules. This was the first time Russel saw her blatantly displaying her body in front of him.
He frowned and averted his eyes. It was clear she was playing with him. Teasing him. The two of them had never seen eye to eye. In fact, when they first met,
