    CHAPTER 1

    Hugo is having a dinner.

    And he’s not wasting a second.

    -This soup is incredible!- he says, slurping it with caution not to burn himself.

    Hugo is plunging a spoon through his plate, and is bringing it to his mouth with a firm grip, without spilling a single drop.

    And the soup is his favorite dish, after the macaroni, pizza and lasagna.

    -For real it's amazing! - he insists.

    But neither his parents nor his sister seems to listen to him.

    -Aha...-his mother says, without lifting his eyes from the cellphone.

    -Very nice, Hugo_ says his father, sliding his finger along the screen on his phone.

    -Great- says Linda, eyes fixed on her new smartphone.

    In his home, everyone has a phone ...everyone except for him, because he is only eight and, according to his parents, he is still too young.

    -Your soup will get cold- Hugo warns them, already finishing his plate.

    They've been sitting at the table for more than ten minutes. and neither his parents nor his sister tasted it. They haven't done a single thing except for fiddling about with their cellphones.

    -Today, during the class, I got a mark from the math exam, you know?- he tells them with an ear to ear grin.

    SILENCE.

    -Bet you can't guess what I got?

    But neither his parents nor his sister gave signs of listening to him. All their attention was focused on their marvelous cellphones.

    -I got a B+! It's almost straight A's! Isn't it great news?

    -Aha- says his mother.

    -Very nice- says his father.

    -Great-says his sister.
