    Introducing Dark Song

The Carpathian series is vampire lore and gore mixed with the supernatural and the mysticism surrounding the vampire myth. It brings a fresh twist to the vampire legend by introducing an ancient humanoid race with similar vampires' abilities, minus all of their weaknesses. The Carpathians are not as powerful as vampires, although they have some of the powers of vampires. In addition to vampiric abilities, they have some that are unique to the Carpathians.

The story begins by introducing a severely weakened main female protagonist—Elisabeta—and her first meeting with her lifemate—Ferro. The book then unfolded to reveal Elisabeta's tragic past and the abuses that she suffered since childhood. She was an abused captive of a powerful and feared master vampire—Sergey. This scene is where the book becomes interesting. The details of the capture and the lengths that the master vampire was willing to go to ensure his captive's complete subservience and obedience were particularly impressive. It focused more on Elisabeta and Ferro and their relationship. The book showed glimpses of the life around the small Carpathian community where the story started. This method is likely intentional since the book is mainly a vampire-romance novel. However, the main characters are technically not vampires. The protagonists are vampires. The book will immediately feel like it is primarily a book about the romantic relationship of Elisabeta and Ferro. Even the other couples in the book were not given enough focus to become interesting. This will not be new to the series' fans but might surprise newcomers—especially those who came from a much darker take on the
