About this ebook
This format is designed to be read on color devices and cannot be read on black-and-white e-readers.
In the second Adventure Zone graphic novel (adapted from the McElroy family's wildly popular D&D podcast), we rejoin hero-adjacent sort-of-comrades-in-arms Taako, Magnus, and Merle on a wild careen through a D&D railroad murder mystery.
This installment has a little of everything: a genius child detective, an axe-wielding professional wrestler, a surly wizard, cursed magical artifacts, and a pair of meat monsters.
You know, the usual things you find on a train.
Hot on the heels of The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins, the smash hit graphic novel that launched the series, The Adventure Zone: Murder on the Rockport Limited! picks up the saga where volume 1 left off. Both books are based on "The Adventure Zone," a tabletop RPG comedy podcast with downloads numbering in the tens of millions and an army of passionately devoted fans. With art and co-adaptation from Carey Pietsch, the McElroys are once again turning their raucous freewheeling D&D campaign into some damn fine comics.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Been binging entire show but this is the only one of the books my library had. Fun but tbh I enjoy the podcast so much this fell a bit flat.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The Adventure Zone: Balance is one of the most compelling and emotionally profound stories I've ever experienced, and I'm so glad it's finally getting adaptation into new mediums. I wish it could've been animated like Vox Machina, but I digress.
Cary Pietsch's illustrations bring The Adventure Zone to a new level of charming, and it leaves me excited to see how the adaptation tackles the soon-to-be emotional heights of Petals to the Metal and The Crystal Kingdom! - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Just when you thought the TAZ graphic novels couldn't get any better, hot damn, it's MURDER TRAIN TIME! This is a perfect adaptation of the Rockport story arc from the Adventure Zone: Balance campaign. I love the artwork, I love the various framing conventions, every panel is perfection, and I covet Taako's outfits so hard. I am even more excited for the adaptation of Petals to the Metal than I was before reading this one, which is a lot.
Also, Merle is like?? Super cute?? And I love this Cute Wee Rude Cleric so much. The art style really fits his character.
PS: I would gladly perish for Jess the Beheader, an amazing woman that could easily crush me with her bare hands. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a great sequel and a fantasy ode to Agatha Christie, probably. If you like the first comic, I think you'll like this as well. Again, you don't have to listen to the podcast, but I do feel it helps enrich the comics. I'm still listening to the podcast and I'm at the start of this comic, so I look forward to all the extra content the podcast is going to provide. If you like the comics, definitely check out the podcast!
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5I only read the first volume of this because it was a Goodreads Choice Awards graphic novel nominee last year. And now I'm reading the second volume because it is in this year's Goodreads Choice Awards. As I vowed to myself with Monstress, this is not an error I will make a third time. This murder mystery set on a train is dull, slow and not funny. I guess you really need to follow the podcast to get anything out of it.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A fun follow up! Funny, over the top, quirky, and clever; this nerdy graphic novel series is my new favorite thing. A trio of ridiculous adventurers have found themselves on a new quest. They must find a dangerous item before it falls into the hands of a nameless enemy. Things get complicated when they end up stuck on the train that the relic is on and someone gets murdered. Who did it? Why are they relying on a 10 year old for help. Why is there a giant crab attacking them? Wonderfully illustrated and filled with fantastic banter, I can hardly wait for the third installment!
