Dear Diary,

I regret to inform you that once again I am single.  Joel seemed like such a nice guy when we met. We had so many things in common and he made me laugh. I really thought he was the one. Maybe that was the problem. I was so desperate for him to be Mr. Right, I made him out to be something he wasn’t. 

Now don’t get me wrong. We really did get along well. We both enjoyed Chinese food, foreign films, and the sound of Spanish guitars. I always thought the idea of finding someone meant you hooked up with someone who shared your interests. He fit that description. 

I suppose if I’d been paying attention I probably would have picked up on his vanilla, straight and narrow nature the first time we tumbled into bed together. I mean, sex with Joel was okay, but nothing spectacular, nothing that really rocked my world. Though he always tried to attend to my needs, he’s very much a missionary with the lights out type of guy, and we all know I have unconventional tastes.   

I tried to enjoy the first few times we fucked, but there’s only so much of the caveman grunting a girl can take.  Eventually, I’d end up faking an orgasm just to end the torment.  After the deed was done I always felt unsatisfied and restless. Still, because we got along so well, I didn’t want to just drop him like a hot potato. So tonight I finally worked up the nerve and suggested adding some spice to our sex life.
