Connor Whiteley

Hello, I'm Connor Whiteley, I am an 18-year-old who loves to write creatively, and I wrote my Brownsea trilogy when I was 14 years old after I went to Brownsea Island on a scout camp. At the camp, I started to think about how all the broken tiles and pottery got there and somehow a trilogy got created. Moreover, I love writing fantasy and sci-fi novels because you’re only limited by your imagination. In addition, I'm was an Explorer Scout and I love camping, sailing and other outdoor activities as well as cooking.Furthermore, I do quite a bit of charity work as well. For example: in early 2018 I was a part of a youth panel which was involved in creating a report with research to try and get government funding for organised youth groups and through this panel. I was invited to Prince Charles’ 70th birthday party and how some of us got in the royal photograph. Finally, I am going to university and I hope to get my doctorate in clinical psychology in a few years.

    Garro - Connor Whiteley

    prologue

When the Devourer’s birth scream ripped reality and the God Realm open and he consumed all living things.

There was one goddess that stood against him. Whilst the others flee or were consumed.

Hecate- an ancient goddess of the Greek pantheon stood firm against this bestial creature.

As the divine beings fought, magical energy crackled around them and they forced earthquakes into creation.

The waves created by these quakes would echo through not only the god realm but the mortal realm.

Yet it was not enough. It was never enough.

After Hecate released her magic, creatures of the night and worse abominations. The Devourer slit her throat and consumed her.

But Hecate would never be defeated that easily, so as one last desperate act she screamed a last message.

Nobody knows what this message was, but the God Magi knows this message is the key to the Devourer’s defeat.

Hence, her divine eye is now drawn to the Faithful world of Fides as this world is beaming with faithful energy as the citizenry screams out for aid against the Undead infestation.

Yet there are worse problems on Fides than being corrupted by the Undead as a new power is rising.

Murder, disease, and mutilation is their aim.

They are the Faithful Cult of the Golden Blood, but whatever god they worship. It is not the God Magi, and their corruption is widespread.

Ready to bring down Fides, but if this world falls, then the Veil between dimensions thins and the Devourer can walk freely amongst men.

And the Devourer can freely consume the God Magi and consume reality soon after...

    chapter 1

F reeze! In the name of the God Magi, I order you to stop! Garro ordered as he stormed down an alley with rain slashing into his face. With every step, his armoured boots were covered in thick, dirty, diseased mud. Stop!

The little mortal in front of Garro would never stop.

If he stopped, then he was dead.

If not by Garro’s hand then by a corrupted agent of the Devourer.

If you do not stop now. I will shatter your sanity!

    The man kept running.

He jumped over broken cars and leapt over oversized puddles of oil and toxic tar.

Garro merely walked over these obstacles.

Guns shots zoomed overhead as an Arbiter gunship zoomed pass and Garro frowned.

The faint smell of gunpowder filled the air as the Arbiters fired upon Garro and the man he was chasing.

The Grand Master did not need the local arbitration to interfere.

If this man died, then Garro might never find out the location of the Mistress of Blood, and by extension entire planets might burn for his failure.

Suddenly, Garro looked ahead and there was a tunnel. This was a problem.

If the mortal got into the tunnel, then he could easily climb into one of the thousands of subways under the hive city.

In other words, Garro would lose this being forever.

A blue flashlight appeared on Garro’s helmet.

Garro, I managed to fake a terrorist attack on the planet so that should keep the local Arbitration busy for a bit, Kortana announced.

    Thank you, Kortana!

Garro leapt to one side as the man fired four explosive rounds.

The Grand Master roared at the man: YOU will stop this now!

Liquid filled the man’s eyes, but Garro didn’t care.

Then the man looked at his gun.

    Looked at Garro.

    Then back at the gun.

He put it up to his head and fired.

    The gun didn’t fire.

With a thought, Garro melted the gun.

Now you will tell me what I want to know,

The man sank to his knees, crying.

Mud slowly rising to his waist, he spoke in an inelegant rough voice: They will kill me,

So will I, but there’s a critical difference between me killing you and them,

    What?

Start talking or I will break both your legs and leave you here. At least if you talk you can run away,

Knowing this was his only genuine option, the man spoke: The Mistress of Blood is in the system,

Chuckling, Garro continued: I know that. But where is she?

Using his superhuman hearing, the Grand Master could hear the engines of gunships once more.

One last chance, Garro firmly said as he drew his staff out.

Opening his mouth to speak, a bullet went into his chest.

Snapping around, Garro saw five arbiters dropping from a gunship.

Kortana! I thought you had them handled,

    Well...

    The Arbiters fired at Garro.

A high velocity shot impacted Garro's shoulder, cracking the armour plating.

As a gesture of contempt, Garro set the gunship ablaze.

    The Arbiters didn’t even react.

They flew forward and didn’t stop firing.

With a flick of his hand, the Grand Master caused the mud to soar up and smash into the Arbiters.

    Not killing them.

Only stopping them for a moment.

Rushing over to the man, Garro ordered: Where is she?

By this point, blood was filling his mouth and lungs. His speech was barely audible.

Tapping into the man’s mind, Garro softly spoke: +Don’t speak. Just think+

    +Fides+

The man only just managed to say until an Arbiter exploded his head off.

    Garro’s blood boiled.

These Arbiters. These humans kept interfering with his divine mission that their own God had set him.

These humans kept interfering with plans and plots that were bigger than all of them and ultimately were going to keep them safe.

Another volley of bullets smashed into Garro.

    Cracking his armour further.

In all honesty, Grand Master Garro had had enough of humans interfering. For the past few months, the Arbitration, Marines and other organizations had caused the Mistress of Blood to escape his wrath on ten occasions.

The worse part was that last week the Mistress had bought down an entire hive city. Killing trillions.

    Garro charged up his staff.

He did not care anymore if humans thought he was a heretic.

    He was a magical being.

He was the son of the God Magi.

He was humanity’s hope and saviour.

Thrusting out his staff, Grand Master Garro caused blood to pour out from the Arbiters eyes, mouth and nose.

Their own heart and lungs poured out from their mouth.

The corpses landed hard into the mud before the mud consumed them, never to be discovered.

    That was graphic, Kortana mentioned.

    Garro ignored her.

Both of them had changed so much throughout the heresy. It was hard to be disappointed at each other for what they were willing to do for their side.

At least I didn’t bring the Devourer into our reality, Garro joked.

    Kortana gave a guilty smile.

Where should I plot our course, Garro?

To the Faithful world of Fides,

Fides? We might have a problem,

    Why?

There are fresh reports coming in that the world is under attack from Undead forces and there’s an infestation,

Garro sensed there was something else.

    What?

By order of the Inquisition, the planet is now under quarantine,

    Bloody Inquisition!

And three Inquisitors have been dispatched to the planet so we will not get a warm welcome,

The Grand Master thought hard about his options.

He had to go to Fides.

But with the Undead attacking it and not one but three Inquisitors present on the planet. He was going to have a lot of conflict.

Even with his mother; the God Magi, leader of the Republic; partially making him an exception to her Decree outlawing magic. A lot of the republic still saw him as an enemy, and no better than the heretics they faced.

This was before you consider and get into the politics of allowing Kortana; the former co-leader of the heresy; free rein on the galaxy.

Kortana, prepare the fleet to make a Slidespace jump to Fides. We have a world to save,

    chapter 2

    Politics.

As always, your little race loves them.

You love the political games and backstabbing.

You love to distract people from the truth, and you simply say that politics is a hard-fought battle.

The truth is your species loves politics too much and instead of focusing or at least trying to get to the end result. You focus too much on the political battle.

This is why I revealed myself to all of you all those decades or centuries ago.

And this is why I return to earth now instead of waging war with the Devourer.

Due to the fact, that you humans are stagnating once more and getting nothing done!

Upon my simple golden pod that was encrusted with jewels from the furthest reaches of the republic, I merely floated there watching and learning.

In the Senate, there were thousands if not millions of balconies were the representatives or senators stood ready to do one of three things.

    Waste my time.

    Waste my money.

Or firmly defence the interest of the populous they represented.

So precious few were in the latter camp.

Additionally, the dark blue smooth walls of the Senate made for an impressive contrast compared to the Senate’s white robes of office and authority.

Yet I do enjoy seeing the unique humans that walk the corridors of power.

Since the woman in front of me was a massive three-metre-tall brute from a world extremely high in gravity.

To my left was a skinny man with a chest the circumference of twenty centimetres with thin long arms, and his red skin glowed in this dim light.

Typically for a person from a low gravity world with extreme heat and solar radiation.

Finally, to my right was a bestial senator from a primitive world.

However, I had always hated the constant noise of the Senate as there were always whispers of deception, corruption and other political games.

Using my divine power, I listened in:

Tonight, we strike and kill the port city. Then the senator will fall,

I got that massive shuttle company to pull out of the Exanimus merger. Unemployment will thankfully soar,

We need to get rid of our competition. Send word to the Solar Commander and arrest all Opposition members,

I laugh to myself at the stupidity of it all.

Immediately, I sneered at the incoming senators from the galactic east as they bought in their vomit smelling drink.

I had to activate more of my holy power to stop my mouth tasting bile and fish from last night.

    My Lord Magi, a
