Connor Whiteley

Hello, I'm Connor Whiteley, I am an 18-year-old who loves to write creatively, and I wrote my Brownsea trilogy when I was 14 years old after I went to Brownsea Island on a scout camp. At the camp, I started to think about how all the broken tiles and pottery got there and somehow a trilogy got created. Moreover, I love writing fantasy and sci-fi novels because you’re only limited by your imagination. In addition, I'm was an Explorer Scout and I love camping, sailing and other outdoor activities as well as cooking.Furthermore, I do quite a bit of charity work as well. For example: in early 2018 I was a part of a youth panel which was involved in creating a report with research to try and get government funding for organised youth groups and through this panel. I was invited to Prince Charles’ 70th birthday party and how some of us got in the royal photograph. Finally, I am going to university and I hope to get my doctorate in clinical psychology in a few years.

    Garro - Connor Whiteley

    prologue

The Solas- Masters of Time, Magic, Technology and more.

In their dying days filled with fire, slaughter, corruption and plague.

    Annihilation was their fate.

Yet they knew others would come after them.

It was up to the Solas to prepare them for the Final Silence.

A battle to end all life and existence.

In the end, all was changed around the Solas. Including their lives and their destruction. Yet one single text remained untouched.

    The Final Silence.

A Great Silence Will Fall over the Galaxy.

World by World- silence will fall.

There shall be no grand battle to mark the end.

There will only be the Silence before the Storm.

Even the Final Storm will be silence with death.

When the Final Silence Falls, there is no stopping it.

Whatever hope or power remains must be marshalled to one place.

There shall be no corpses nor bodies to mark the passing of the Final Species or the Hopeful Ones.

There will be nothing... only husks of dust and ash.

For least the Hoped Ones fail then the Devourer shall devour all of existence and everything will be nothing.

-The Final Silence, Abridged Solas End Times Prophecy

    CHAPTER 1

Wind howled, whipped and lashed across Grand Master Garro’s face as he stared into the dark horizon.

The golden Holy light crackle behind him as Saint Elizabeth Hellbringer slammed shut the Holy portal behind him.

She marched over to him and they said nothing.

Garro stared out into the darkness ahead. While the wind continued to whip and lash across his face.

In the distance, Garro witnessed the burning of an entire city, the size of ancient New York. Enormous shards of crystal and glass smashed into the fires below. As they were devoured.

Flames whirled and twirled in the massive city.

Snapping on his helmet, Garro felt the air pressurised within his helmet and he tried to scan the city.

However, his high-tech scans only reported dancing all-consuming flames. No buildings or anything large enough remained to be detected.

All the Grand Master could see was twirling red and yellow flames dancing in the air.

Creating massive columns of black smoke that veiled the starlit sky.

Taking off his helmet, Garro’s fingers ran across the smooth metal of his helmet. Before the howling wind returned.

Carrying thick toxic smoke with a distinctive smell.

    Garro’s eyes narrowed.

The smell of smouldering flesh filled the air.

    Garro smiled a little.

The Undead had to have their kill, Garro muttered.

Elizabeth was about to say something.

The Grand Master closed his eyes.

    Focusing on something.

All around him, the cracking thunderous sound of flames and falling buildings echoed around them.

However, the city was a kilometre away from them.

The soft sandy rock of the mountain were Garro and Elizabeth were standing on moved. As the Grand Master sat on the floor.

    Focusing on the surroundings.

    Elizabeth opened her mouth.

    Garro waved her silent.

    Something was wrong.

Ignoring the thick toxic air entering his lungs and the howling wind, Garro forced his armoured fingers into the soil.

The smooth cold sand sent refreshing sensations up Garro’s arm.

    But there was something missing.

    Garro shot up.

He snapped around. Turning to Elizabeth.

Looking at his friend’s armour for the first time since portalling here. The Grand Master clocked her smooth golden armour that shone bright in the light of the burning city.

Bright flowery oils perfumed the Holy air around her. While the air around Garro sunk of sweat and death.

The wind disappeared, the smell of the smoke stopped, and everything went silent.

The Dead. People are dying. Why can’t I hear their screams?

    Elizabeth looked puzzled.

For the first time since arriving, Kortana popped up in Garro’s helmet display. Her elegant green holographic form smiled at the Grand Master.

    Garro frowned. His face unsure.

I don’t know. I can sense them dying. I can sense their souls moving across into the Undead Realm to be devoured. But... Garro began.

Elizabeth placed a loving hand on his shoulder.

But? Elizabeth urged him to continue.

But I can’t hear their death screams. It’s like they’re dying in utter silence,

    Elizabeth backed away.

Her face draining of colour and her breathing slowed.

Elizabeth’s eyes stared towards the burning city, yet they seemed distant.

Garro moved in front of her.

    Elizabeth, what is it?

    Elizabeth was silent.

Kortana added, Um, in the name of the God Magi, tell us,

    Garro rolled his eyes.

Slowly, Elizabeth met the Grand Master’s glaze.

Garro, this is far, far, far from good that you cannot hear the Death Screams,

Kortana was about to speak but Garro waved her silent.

    Why?

My God Magi once spoke of the event to end all Realms and Dimensions. The Final Silence. The Solas Version of the End Times but this End Times is real. Can you hear any Death Screams in the galaxy?

    Elizabeth stared at Garro.

The Grand Master closed his eyes. Focusing on widening his attention to all aspects of the galaxy.

The wind kept whipping past him, but he ignored it.

No, there is nothing. Only silence,

    Elizabeth frowned.

My God Magi was right. The Final Silence, the End of Days is upon us. We cannot waste any time,

Wait, why are we here? Garro demanded. We need to go to Stonehenge. We need to kill the Devourer,

    I’m with Garro, Kortana agreed.

    Elizabeth laughed.

Oh Garro, even with all my Divine Faith, I wouldn’t last long in the Realm of the Dead. If you want any hope of surviving in the Undead Realm then you need protection,

For God Magi’s Sake, Garro swore.

He dashed over to the edge of the side of the mountain.

The soft sandy rock moved under his armoured feet.

While the howling wind had stopped to some extent. The toxic smell of smouldering flesh still weighed upon his lungs.

His skin ran cold with the wind.

Elizabeth came over. Her natural Holy aura giving some warmth to his skin.

Garro, I know we need to press on for Stonehenge and Earth. But we have one chance to kill the Devourer. If we mess it up, then all of Reality is lost.  You need protection,

    Garro nodded slowly.

Looking out into the distance, he saw the whirling flames start to slow.

I know. I’m sorry. I just want this all to end. I am tired of hunting the Devourer down. I want to rest, and I want peace. We have lost so much. I want this all to end,

    Elizabeth hugged him.

I know. We have all lost so much. But the God Magi Protects. She lives within me and the God Magi will guide us. Just have Faith,

Garro didn’t want to remind her of the very important fact that her God, his mother was dead.

Why did you bring us here? Kortana questioned.

Elizabeth shot back- almost jumping in shock as she was reminded that Kortana was here.

Golden light pulsed from Elizabeth’s armour as she replied: There is something only the Solas knew about. There is meant to be an artefact here that will protect you in the Undead Realm,

Can you lead us? Garro questioned.

I cannot but the God Magi can,

As Elizabeth ripped open another portal to the location of this artefact, a single message echoed in Garro’s mind.

Least we fail all is nothing.

    CHAPTER 2

Reality flashed and crackled as Elizabeth’s golden holy portal ripped reality wide open. Allowing Garro as well as Saint Elizabeth Hellbringer to step out into the warm evening air.

A gentle warm breeze blow past Grand Master as he breathed in deeply. Smelling the fresh damp ground from a recent rainstorm.

In the sky, night started to veil the sky while in the east the sun gave out one last fiery flash of light. Before it disappeared into the horizon.

Bright stars flooded into the sky afterwards.

Stepping forward, Garro felt the strange sandstone move under his immense feet as he walked towards the temple in front of him.

As a massive solid stone wall stood firm in front of Garro as well as Elizabeth.
