Preface
A Crisis of Faith
Today and every generation from the beginning of time seem to exist in an era which has caused a crisis of faith. In an era which many people are trying to understand their meaning of existence? An era in which security based all the earthly things seems to be breaking down on a daily basis, always has, always will. Read the history books, honored writers and poets, for centuries. Many people feel that this is an era of entropy (chaos). This is an era of financial crisis, job losses and wars that continue around the world. Again, always has always will be until the fulfillment of, Revelation 22: 20 (He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, Yes, I am coming soon!)
.
The accumulation of these events causes great stress in personal life. As a result of this stress, many people are seeking an answer. After 9/11, many people returned to the church. Consider the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1-23). But some of those people in the past who have turned to the church today have serious doubts that the answers to the question of their existence will come from the church. Many of the people I spoke with feel betrayed by the church. The church
is not the answer. God’s word and promises are all you can count on. I have heard some people say that because of their life experiences that they are finished with God. But we must point out God is not finished with them.
Finished with God
Both the believer and non-believer who have had dramatic experiences can feel a sense of emptiness. Thus both types of people can say" I am finished with God.
In the case of the non-believer, when they feel they have been treated unjustly by God. They can say I am Finished with God
. Now the very opposite is true of the believer, since they have accepted Christ as their personal savior, they also can say I am finished with God.
But, I am Finished with God
, in this case has a completely different meaning than I am Finished with God has in the case of the non-believer.
To know this reality does not mean that you have complete control over your circumstances. In reality we have a union with Christ and he has conquered all.
So then, when people say that they’re finished with God and Christianity this is an interesting phrase. This is because it applies to both because both groups of people. Both groups of people can say, I am Finished with God
.
This book is written to help those people who are, finished with God (in the negative sense), who don’t believe God has anything to do with them and who need something more, those who have a desire for a new beginning.
It is the understanding of, I am Finished with God
in the life of the believer that gives them the ability to handle the adversity in their life with assurance. This is because they know the answer to the question, Who Can Live Forever?
First and foremost I acknowledge that this project came to completion only through the grace of God. While you are reading this book, if just one word 'speaks to your heart', please acknowledge that
