About this ebook

Christianity promises so much. The Bible offers sincere believers a new life in Christ. This new life should begin in the here and now. Coming to faith in Christ by being filled with the Holy Spirit, should enable a believer to live righteously. Only then can they know real peace and joy in their lives.
Yet so often for Christians, these promises do not become a reality. So many people fall away from the faith. In reality the Bible also promises that following Jesus Christ will also entail struggles & sacrifices. All Christians experience struggles in their lives, too few receive the blessings that the Bible promises.
In this book, I will endeavour to argue why becoming a Christian should be amazing I will do this by examining the teachings of the Bible in relation to my own personal testimony of coming to faith in Christ.

    Chapter 1 Introduction.

Before I came to faith I was intrigued by Christianity. It all seemed so bizarre. Generations of people who claim to believe in one very unique God. Unlike your average pagan God, they believe this God also had a son. This son of God was also God. The son of God was then crucified. These believers claim that his body and soul rose again. If this wasn't implausible enough, these believers then add another character: this person is called the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. In my pre-Christian past, I was never quite sure who or what the Holy Spirit was meant to be, but it does make up a trinity. Not just any trinity, this makes up a Holy Trinity.

So, you have God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. To me, the obvious question is where is God the Mother? Why not make things even more absurd and ask where is God the Mother-in-law?

If this wasn't bad enough the followers of this religion use the crucifix as their symbol. Crucifixion, in reality, was one of the most horrendous forms of execution that humanity has ever devised. Some of these believers now claim the cross is the ultimate symbol of God's love for humanity. This seemed so utterly perverse to me.

During my, over four decades of being an unbeliever, I wasn't impressed with Christianity as a belief system. The premise of Christianity seemed so binary. Saved or damned. The logical solution was obvious: refute the crass simplicity of believing in heaven and hell.

I wasn't really impressed with the behaviour of most of the Christians that I knew. Not that I knew many Christians. At the risk of generalising, they seemed to have closed minds and were judgemental people with superior attitudes. (I have just generalised.)

Yet despite all the seemingly overwhelming evidence for the worthlessness of Christianity and Christians, I always had a lingering sense in the back
