    PREFACE Lost And Bound

    November 8th, 1977 at 3:19am I entered this world, as most babies do, screaming. Why don’t we pop out with a big smile on our face? Why do we have such an undesirable initial response? It’s a natural reaction to being forced out of a comfortable environment and into some stranger’s hands with a roomful of eyes watching. We feel uncomfortable immediately. Rightfully so.

    The foundation of this world is glued together with a myriad of dense, dark, chaotic cement. We are all expected to bear the weight of a society created by those before us. We do our part to carry it forward, answering to those above us without questioning its integrity. Thrown around like a dinghy at sea in a hurricane, we are being told to take care of number one first and if we don’t make it happen no one else will. Take from them what they won’t give me. Fake it until we make it. Make it so. Compete, compete, compete.

    We are taught that our success is judged by the title we have attained and the amount of paper we have cleverly stashed away for future use. Future use that doesn’t always come to fruition as we are all marching toward the one promise this world gives us, death, one breath at a time. So many successful people dying with an enormous stack of paper that someone else will spend. They poured their heart and soul into temporal treasures and had to leave them behind.

    I found all of this troubling early on in life as none of it really made sense. There is something missing, something big. I was told to graduate from high school,
