INTRODUCTION
About Myself
I have become obsessed with success ever since about five months ago. Does that make me a qualified expert on success? Not at all. What’s certain is that the lessons laid out in this book worked for me. I have read about three books in my lifetime until about five months ago. Since then, I have read about forty books. Books that I accredit with changing my mind about how I think of the world, understand business, and myself.
I am currently a student at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, majoring in computer science. I am a striving computer scientist, real estate investor, and, most importantly, a serial entrepreneur. Give me a business idea and I’ll happily execute it and make you rich! Sounds cool, right? However, let me tell you that I am not in it for the money. I am in it for the sole factor of accomplishing something great. I would rather die than conform with the crowd, to be mediocre.
You may think I was different person five months ago, but I’ve always had it in me, as I think you have it in yourself right now. The choice I made five months ago turned my life around, 180 degrees in the right direction. It just came down to a choice. I want to share the mindset for this choice with you all. I can talk about myself, my accomplishments, and dreams all day, but at the end of the day it’s about providing value to others. I wish to do that in this book. Whether you are in college or not, you still must make the choice to be successful, rather than following a traditional path and expecting everything to work out.
Thoughts on College
Why are you going to college? What are you hoping to accomplish? So many people just go to college because their parents make them. Other people go to college for the parties. Most say they want a degree so that they can obtain a safe and secure job upon graduation. I am here to say you are not guaranteed anything with a college degree. The value of a college degree is not what it used to be in the mid to late 1900s. Your parents may say you will not be successful without a college degree. I am here to say they are wrong.
A credential is better than no credential, of course, but it is not the be-all-end-all answer to your problems. You probably think I am against going to college period, but I also believe there is tremendous value that can be acquired by going to college. This value is primarily personal growth. A
