    Chapter One

This was it! The moment Laela was dreading for two weeks. The day her father would choose the faery prince that she was supposed to marry. Laela is a princess of one of the many faery worlds. Her kind is the most powerful of all the fae. She is also a shape shifter. Most of the shape shifters out there can only turn into animals, but Laela is different. She was given a very special gift by the faery Goddess Willow.

This gift is the ability to turn into a human every full moon, but once the full moon is over she turns back into a faery and therefore must return to her kingdom. Laela has hair that is as long as the tallest sunflower and as wavy as the ocean.

The color of her hair is the color of red clay that makes all the other faeries envious. Her eyes are icy blue and her skin is olive toned. Her long slender body has curves in all the right places and her lips are full and rosy. She has a kind heart and loves her world, but is curious to see what the other world looks like, the human world.

Even though Laela can change into a human, she hasn't been able to leave the kingdom due to her father’s fear of her being kidnapped. But she was ready to break free from her father’s clutches and make a break for the portal. She was going to the human world whether they liked it or not! Just as Laela was plotting a way to get to the portal, her father burst into her bedchamber.

I've got it! I've chosen the prince you are to marry! he exclaimed.

Laela turned around and gave him an annoyed look. Father, I don't know why marrying me off is such a happy occasion for you She stated with an essence of ingratitude in her voice.

Darling I just want what’s best for you!

You mean what's best for the kingdom! Just admit it dad, you love this kingdom more than me!

Don’t you dare speak to me like that? I will not tolerate it! You are going to marry Prince Algred whether you want to or not!

Wait a minute; you mean Prince Algred from the Sons of Willow! But he is the most ignorant warrior of the bunch! You honestly don’t think that 'he' is the best suitor! He’s repulsive!

Watch your tone young lady! Remember you are still my daughter and what I say goes! And if I say you shall marry Prince Algred then you shall marry him.

Yes father, Laela turned away. She was ashamed that she ever thought to argue with the most respectable elder of all the faeries.

Well then it’s agreed I will make the announcement and you shall be wed by the next full moon!

But that’s only two weeks away!

The sooner the better. Why wait? It shall be a joyous time for our kingdom!

But that doesn’t give me any time to prepare! I have a lot to do, like pick a dress.

It’s all taken care of my dear. No need to worry.

What do you mean it’s all taken care of? I don’t even get to pick my own wedding dress?

It is tradition that the bride’s mother picks the dress she is to wear.

Fine then at least let me tell Aleise first. I don’t want her hearing this from anyone else! Laela proclaimed. Aleise is her best and only friend. They have known each other since they were little. Aleise stood up for Laela because all of the other children would pick on her about being a princess and they have been friends ever since.

The kingdom will be told as one and that includes Aleise. No Arguing. It's tradition!

But she is my best friend. You have to at least let me tell her. Laela was angry. She understood her kingdom's tradition, but she thought it to be stupid. The bride ought to be able to tell her best friend who she was assigned to marry.

No buts. This is the way it has been for thousands of years!

Exactly my point. Don't you think that it’s about time to change it up a bit?

"When you are queen you may change the rules as you wish. But I rule at this moment and I say everyone will be told as one!

As soon as he said that King Theo turned around and left abruptly, not allowing Laela anytime to protest. Laela slowly walked over to her amour and sat down; she looked into the mirror and burst into tears. As she waited for night to fall, she paced around her bedchamber and pondered on how she was going to escape, to get to the human world. If she couldn’t go then she didn’t know what she was to do.

She was determined to find a way out no matter what! She was going to do it in two weeks, right before she transformed into a human. Before her father could marry her off.

    Chapter Two

Laela opened the doors to her Amour and picked out the dress she was going to wear to the announcement dinner. The one she chose had very thin straps and was red. Its bustier was ruffled and had black lace as a trim on the bottom of the skirt. She fixed her hair into an intricate knotted bun and put on her best pearl earrings. She looked at herself in the mirror and decided she was ready to go, when King Theo came back into the room.

Ready to go darling? He asked and gasped when Laela turned around, You look absolutely stunning."

Really? Are you sure I look okay? Laela looked down at herself, the dress isn't too tight? No dear. You’re breathtaking, King Theo held out his hand and bowed, my lady I offer you my hand,

Laela placed her hand in his and gracefully stood up. They walked down to the dining hall in silence. When they arrived everyone stood up from their places around the table and gave the king and princess a proper greeting.

The dining hall was exquisite. Above the table hung an expensive chandelier whose crystals sparkled when the lights hit it. The table itself was as long as three football fields. After all it needed to sit the whole kingdom. The wine glasses were all crystal and the plates, were the best of china. The utensils were pure silver and the chairs they sat in were miniature thrones. The windows were decorated with thick curtains, which were red and gold. The windows themselves were stained glass depicting the royal family. Offered on the table in front of them was an array of food, ranging from roasted pheasant to vegetable stew.

The prince, dear Princess Laela is to marry. King Theo raised his hands in
