    Wives and Girlfriends

    A wife is a home-town, a girlfriend a vacation

When a wife is a girlfriend,

    it is a magnificent sensation

I look in those eyes so blue,

the ones I saw when we said, I do

When we may go out to a show,

    hand-in-hand with you I know

As you walk beside me and I lean on my staff,

I love to hear your laugh

The taste of your kisses, feel of your skin,

takes me back to when we begin

    Almost Old

Next year I will be just twenty one, be it for the third time

I do not plan on going out; I do not plan on crime

My children are adults and their lives go on

They chose their own way, they write their own song

My parents are both dead and gone, they fade from memory

Yet their words echo back from time to time, from our history

    Sixty two feels not as old as I thought it would be;

My hips, left knee, and ankle, they are not pain free

As I climb The Stairway to Heaven, I may have a drop or two of rum

A splash of wine may find my tongue, I may choose to have some fun

My life is still running, I have much more to write

The sweet scent of cannabis is in the air; yes it seems quite the rite

    Dancers on the Bridge

As the song plays on, players dance on the bridge

Like a seagull on a Zephyr, lifted by the ridge

A bandit out of hell, hoping he is not too late

They soar ever skyward, toward heaven’s gate

The bridge connects the former stanzas,

    to the ending verse

With those dancing to the tune,

    like flowers on a hearse

    One Tripping-the-Light-Fantastic

    fell into the gorge

It was not Frank or Mary,

    I think
