    Forward

    This work is continually evolving.

This edition contains new material as well as

most of the material in previous editions.

    Some adult themes are included.

Tributary use of others’ words, quotes,

or phrases are respectfully and gratefully included.

For clarification I have separated the

    below works into two categories.

    1) PM - Pre Mary that includes works before I met my wife.

    2) PM - Post Mary, those after I met the love-of-my-life.

For the most part, I have placed the latter former

I hope that helps. - Cliff

    Wives and Girlfriends

    A wife is a hometown

    A girlfriend a vacation

When a wife is a girlfriend,

    It is a magnificent sensation

I look in those eyes so blue,

The ones I saw when we said, I do

When we go out to a show,

Walk hand-in-hand with you I know

As you walk beside me and I lean on my staff,

I love to hear your laugh

The taste of your kisses, feel of your skin,

Takes me back to when we begin

    Sometimes you know

    © 2017 Clifford Bishop ACS

    She drove a black '83 Mustang 5.0

A Holly four barrel carb and five on the floor

When she punched the peddle, it would roar

Mary Beth drank Michelob, and Jack

    Other women drank Pink Fizzies

    I ain’t lookin’ back

I still remember our first kiss

    I remember her first YES.

Since that day I have felt heaven blessed

She Likes Cake, I Like Whisky

    ©2015 Clifford Bishop ACS

She likes cake, I like whisky

I get lazy, she gets frisky

We made our babies; they grew up and moved out

We just love’n our live’n, there is no doubt

Empty nesters, we watch what we want

No Barney, no Smerfs, no pink elephant!

Ghost stories and psychics, wolf men and Vampires

We just watch, whatever we desires

We ain’t got no grandkids yet

    When its gunna happen

    There is a running bet

I have seen that retirement kills

So I’ll keep workin’ ‘till the good lord wills

She likes cake, I like whisky

I get lazy, she get’s frisky

We made our babies, they grew up and moved out

We just love’n our live’n there is no doubt

    Almost Old

    ©2018 Clifford Bishop ACS

Next year I will be just twenty one, be it for the third time

I do not plan on going out; I do not plan on crime

My children are adults and their lives go on

They chose their own way, they write their own song

My parents are both dead and gone, they fade from memory

Yet their words echo back from time to time, from our history

Sixty two feels not as old as I thought it
