    40 Acres - Dawn Diamond

    40 Acres

    Chapter 1

Tilly piper was an unusual kind of girl, a bit withdrawn and not interested in school life or interested in her class mates.

She was one of a kind however, she found extreme delight in studying the world of nature and her fascination and observation of different types of creatures was ever growing.

She studied their extraordinary behaviour towards each other and was humoured at the observation of small creatures, such as spiders and ants, looking at them intensely under a magnifying glass, looking at their huge eyes and hairy bodies, thinking how incredible they are and how much smarter than our delicate disposition of being so needing and interdependent on each other for survival, they come pre-clothed and prepared to meet the challenges of life.

After much thought on the subject, she thought that the human brains were slightly inferior compared to the awesome creatures of the animal kingdom.

Tilly was so relaxed around the animals and the animals had a way of informing each other of who the good guy was and who wasn’t, in fact they seemed to like her very much.

Tilly’s father was a short, portly man, that made millions in the industry that was completely against everything that tilly loved and cared for.

His strong views upset tilly to the point of many tears. Likewise, tilly’s father was disturbed by tilly’s sensitivity and thought tilly to be a difficult child, therefore she was far from being the favourite.

In fact, he disliked her immensely for her stupidity and her grossed exaggerations and often cross with her, it caused many a quarrel between them, leaving them in a great deal of animosity and ever growing dislike for each other’s values and moral codes.

Tilly could not understand how her father could be so barbaric, as to not see her point of view, she was moralistic and held an ant in high regard, in her opinion you would not see an ant in such a deplorable way and she knew that if an ant could talk, that an ant would see her viewpoint.

Tilly thought that the killing of animals must stop as they are of equal value as human beings, that is was horrendous killing all these beautiful creatures, when they are so beautifully made, with precision and crafted to serve a greater purpose, rather than ending up as sandwich meat in people’s lunchbox.

Mr Wallsbanger; executive proprietor of an ever-growing meat industry (her father), would not back down or see her point of view. He had become one of the largest meat manufactures in the country and had made a fortune on his fresh sausage’s and other meat products.

How could tilly even think of such thoughts, Mr wallsbanger was one of the most revered and respected businessmen in town, his oversized bank accounts and many now-rich employees which instituted the killing of animals was unpleasant to Tilly.

Tilly’s father fought Tilly was an obstinate child, who was ungrateful, he would give her the means to get anything that she desired but still she showed no gratitude to her father, who had been so overly generous to her, who had put up with her outbursts and her outrageous comments about raw meat and refused to eat any of his produce.

Out of the three children, Tilly was the least liked.

However, the older brother was of a different nature. He was in complete agreement with his father, that people needed food and meat was necessary for survival and that was that.

In his mind, Tilly was silly, she was childish and insulant, of course this made him look most impressive to their father and he was in line to carry the family business.

The eldest son knew how to get around
