Gazing at the Stars - Jean Abinader Sr.

    1935

    Introduction

Fantastic writer I am not. I have never been able to express my feelings on paper. It seems so unnecessary. By touch, by glance, I do my best. My inspirations come from what my eyes see; my ears hear; my heart feels. I resort to God the Creator, to the earth, to the moon and stars where the freedom of mind dwells. Where the heart treasures his desires, hopes and dreams and takes the pressures and pain we face in our journey day by day.

That comes with the life of the Stranger, Jean Abinader, Sr.

    Tell Me

I saw you in the moonlight, gazing at the stars

    Questions in your eyes,

Tell me when my love will come back to me.

Please tell me what the morrow has for me.

    Tell me please, tell me

My soul thirsts to hear his voice,

My eyes to see his shadow,

My arms to hug him, pressing him to my heart.

Tell me is my hope real?

As you are in the sky, tell me what to do,

What to think, what to hope.

Tell me if I have to wait until the sun regains her light

To give life to my heart

Or the moon to ascend to its throne among the stars

    Tell me.

    February 16, 1991

I found these verses. I wrote them some time ago on a note sent to me from my dear Elmaz. Elizabeth read them and told me they were worthy to be printed. To her advice, I am doing just that.

    The Sparrow

A sparrow by my window - On the branches of the tree –

    Singing

Sad, lonely melody - Moving his head from side to side

Listening to hear the echo of his melody

The morning faded away -- the sparrow went to sleep

Thinking of his lover -- Awakening from his dream

To see the shadow of his lover going by.

    Goddess of the Sea

Goddess of the Sea gazing to heaven to meet the stars

Seeking refuge from the deep -- Searching for a home

Where the pearls grow. Looking for a place to lie down

    And fantasizing with sweet dreams

    Goddess of the Sea,

You are my love, my dreams, you are my destiny

I long for the day to meet you in the sky, in my dreams

I am with you in the sea

    Tomorrow My Love

    Tomorrow yes tomorrow my love

The sun will shine on the mountain my love

The sparrow will fly from tree to tree my love

They sing and mate my love

The moon will spread her charm

To confirm lovers' dreams my love

Can you imagine the sea without life?

    The mountain without the peak

    The forest without trees

    A riverbed without water

    A heart without love

You stood beside me I stood beside you my love

I cried feeling sorry for myself

I cried feeling lonely for you my love

    I cried to every sound

Reminding me of time we spent together

Searching the forest the plain in the wilderness

    Until night falls

    I went asleep
