Devotions and Prayers
By Alan Todd
Introduction and biography
Introduction
Thank you for taking a look at this series of prayers and devotions. I appreciate being able to share my thoughts on these verses with you.
Life is hard. It really is. And to be totally frank, as people we need all the help we can get to get by. One important note I would like to share about these writings. While I am a Christian, I am not suggesting that these are merely Christian in nature. I don’t pretend to understand a lot of what happens in the universe, but I do think there is something greater than us out there.
Further, this writing isn’t from a position of strong educated knowledge. I don’t have a religious education and I do not pretend to have one. I find writing and reflecting to be a peaceful relief from the busy days of life.
I have written from the heart.
Biography
I am a happily married man in my forties. I have a wife and children and in general life is really good. These devotions are written by me and are shared within my Church. I have made the collection here to share with you. The profit
I make on this is nominal at best (at least based on volume 1 to date) and I aspire to donate it all to charities that help people.
I was raised in a family that regularly attended Church. And like so many others, upon being confirmed I fled from organized religion. Even though I prayed daily and talked with God, my relationship was one way. I talked and did not listen. But God understood and waited.
My wife and I got married in a Church, because it was a good thing for us, but we did not use that moment to go back to Church. We merely continued what we were doing which was to go to organized services every so often.
Eventually I found my way. Or rather God helped me find my way. It started slowly. As I had started a family of my own, I felt it was important for them, not for me, to attend Church. So we as a family attended Church. My children participated in Sunday school. And I, well, I didn’t do anything. My wife started helping out around the building and with various programs. And I continued to do nothing. Yet God remained patient and waited for me.
Then a few things started to happen. My job situation got difficult and as a result, my stress level got high. I started losing significant amounts of sleep. While I knew rationally
