Introduction
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Have you ever been loved? Have you ever really been loved? Have you ever really loved someone else? Everyone who reads this for the most part will say sure I have, what, are you crazy?
I’m not talking about the world’s view of love. I’m talking about God’s undying, pure, unadulterated, unselfish, love. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son so that whosoever believed in Him shall not perish but have eternal lasting life.
Could you do that? Could you give something of yourself that meant half as much to you as your only son to save someone else? Could you give something as small as your time to save someone else for completely unselfish reasons? We love our parents, we love our spouses, we love our children and yet we disappoint them on a daily basis. God’s love never disappoints! God’s love never hides. God’s love never boasts. God’s love never subsides. If you’re reading this book and you’re having marriage problems, know this, I have already prayed for you.
I believe in you because I have been there and God saw me through. God not only saw me through, but he made me instrumental in saving myself and my wife. I was a sinner. I was a lukewarm; spew you from my lips, compromising Christian. A man who knew what was right but never followed it. I never owned it. I knew of God, I didn’t know God. I believed in God; however I didn’t have a relationship with God. I got the warm fuzzies in church once in a while, especially watching someone else have an encounter with God. I never had an encounter with God. Have you ever read about Jacob wrestling with God and
