Introduction
President Abraham Lincoln, who was instrumental in abolishing slavery in the USA and presided over the American Civil War, was assassinated whilst watching a theatre performance in Washington DC in April 1865. This play is based on the event of his assassination.
The play was conceived as a two-part immersive, interactive experience allowing the modern-day audience to re-live the last minutes of Lincoln’s life. The audience become the audience of the time, being shocked by events and trying to help. This disintegration of the theatrical fourth wall
is a natural outcome of events.
The historical events depicted in the play have
