    ASTROLOGY FOR DOGS

    Introduction

Welcome to Astrology for Dogs. This book will provide you with basic information and an explanation as to how the stars and astrology influence the behavior of our fury companions.

The combination of Western and Chinese Astrology provides an insight to the personality traits of our canine companions.

As Chinese and Western Astrology combine, they produce an accurate and realistic interpretation that can be applied to our four legged family members.  Astrological interpretations have a different application to the behavioral traits and personalities to the animal kingdom.

Chinese Astrology has been practiced for 2000 years and continues to have an influential following today. Responsible for most of your dogs traits, their astrological / zodiac sign, combined with the interpretations from the year they were born, will determine the personality traits of our fine four legged companions.

You may be pleasantly surprised at the insight and understanding these interpretations provide for the fury members of your family.

Our hairy companions have their own interpretation and application of the zodiac, this translation has been documented on behalf of the domesticated dog, in the hope that we may move a little bit closer to better understanding them.

The following pages reveal a little more about your dog and may provide an insight and explanation as to why they do some of the things they do.

I hope you enjoy the journey of discovery.

    CHINESE ASTROLOGY

The first part of this book is dedicated to the year your dog was born. As with us, Chinese Astrology has a direct influence on the personality traits of our animals.

Rather than the months of the year, Chinese Astrology is based on a 12 year lunar cycle determined by the year your canine was born. Each sign is represented by a different animal and the traits of that animal will be reflected in the personalities of your pets.

In Chinese history, it is believed that the animals of the Chinese Zodiac were chosen by Buddha from the 12 animals that came to visit him on his death bed. All animals were invited, but only 12 came; the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. In thanks for their visit, Buddha honoured them by dedicating an individual year to each of them in the Chinese Zodiac.

The lunar cycle repeats every 12 years with each corresponding animal. The beginning of a Chinese new year changes each year between late January and February. If your pet was born early in the year, you may wish to read the previous year's animal description as it could also apply to your pet.

The table on the following page lists the years and their corresponding animals.

The characteristics of each of these signs are summarized in the following pages. Combine these with your dogs' Western Astrological sign to gain an in-depth personality profile of your pet.

Chinese Astrological signs repeat every 12 years.  Two cycles have been provided on the following pages.

Example, if your dog was born in May 2010, it would be a 'Tiger'. If it was born in July 2005, its Chinese zodiac sign would be the 'Rooster'.
