Susan goes through many emotions that children of divorce feel and this book will show them that other children of divorce also feel sad, confused, and abandoned.
Although Susan's parents reassure her of their love she still feels she created the divorce. It is only when The Angel Next Door comes into her life that she begins to understand, discover, and believe that her parents still love her even though they now live apart. This brings Susan relief and she begins to heal.
It is vital in this age of divorce and broken homes that children know and are told they are not the problem. That divorce is "big people stuff," so they can process their feelings without feeling responsible for the divorce.
