About this ebook

Two Worlds in One Mirror is a poetic dialogue between father and son. Stephan Dahan battled a critical life-afflicting addiction and found a voice on the page in poetry. His father, Serge Dahan, an avid writer of poetry himself, found footing on the page as well. This collection is a beautiful conversation between father and son – both seeking the best for one another and the best in humankind. The poems seem to transcend everyday benevolence – and reach to a place where they are each called and call each other to be heroic in their ultimate transformations.

    TWO WORLDS IN ONE MIRROR

A Dialogue Between a Father and Son

    Serge Dahan

    Stephan Dahan

    We dedicate this book to

    Draeden Dahan, son and grandson,

who brings pure joy to our hearts every day.

    The Chase

    Sometimes my soul feels distant.

    Ambitions course fierce through my veins;

    Focus

    Not yet in place.

    Illusions in the mirror,

    Too many sometimes.

    I barely recognize myself.

    Hungry for success,

    In need of financial nourishment.

    Motivation is starving—virtually nonexistent.

    My dreams blow around—they are

A synchronized dance in the wind.

What is it I dream? What do I want

    To do with my life?

    Where do I start?

    Strategic questions—

    Chasing answers to understand myself.

It is hard to chase something

    When you don’t know what

    You’re running after.

I once was a hostage of my past—

A past that evaporates like dust in the wind.

I hold the keys to my future now,

Unlocking the doorway of my destiny.

Life is a journey not a chase.

    I am no longer running;

I am the turtle of the race.

    While Waiting for Freedom

Instead of a wall, you see an ocean.

    A lotus flower, you bloomed

Because of the trials of life.

A solid tree, you grew ring by ring—

Always reaching out for the sky.

    You opened your heart, reached

Out. Now, at the edge of life,

    As if floating through nothingness,

You embark on a new journey.

Radiant with the glow of peace

Within, you look in the mirror

And see the pure young man

    You have always been—

    The person
