    Chapter One

    Eww, Martin Marshall just let out another garlic bomb! They are smacking me right in my face and I feel as bruised as a paintballing victim. If I scream, Miss Teacher is only going to accuse me of wanting to be the centre of attention, so I will just sit here and melt behind my test paper. Anyone would think Martin’s actual name was Martian, because I have never inhaled such a foreign smell in my life. It is out of this world! If I don’t live to see home time, please tell my puppy, Woof, that I love her. I silently shift myself under my desk, leaving the rest of the class to scratch their heads through their maths tests.

    Wake up Koala, Miss Teacher barks over my desk approximately 15 minutes later. And get yourself out from under the table. The maths test is over, she continues.

    Wohoo, thank God! Between you and me I wasn’t actually sleeping, I was planning what to write in my will.

    It’s now home time, but unlike other kids, I am never in a hurry to go straight home. Mum’s probably on the phone gossiping and dad’s always out working on his cleaning business, so I’m going to do what I do best - buy lots and lots of sweets so I can make more money from the tooth fairy. Mum reckons my business-driven mind makes me a daddy’s girl. I’ve never really known what I wanted to be when I was older, unlike Miss Teacher, who
