About this ebook

We are not alone, there is another species out there… If I said this, would you believe me? Somewhere in this world, a colony is created… Not by humans, but by a nonhuman race. The nonhuman race is Homo differentia, a human subspecies with grey skin and black eyes. They possess untold power, the sort which corrupts the power-hungry. Thus they are sequestered, cloaked to prevent discovery and contamination. Homo differentia is created in a lab, fully grown and fully developed… It begins with one. This one is the alpha, leader of the colony created independent of the first generation. His name is Fyra, a name which sounds more alien than human… Is he really human? After creation, Fyra embarks on a journey of self-discovery within the colony’s confines. The powers locked within him must be unleashed before the first generation is created. Can it be done?

    1. Alien Life: The Homo differentia

    We are not alone,

there is another species out there…

Someone like us, someone foreign to us

Somewhere in this world stands a facility,

isolated from all else… Typically atypical

The nearest civilization is miles away,

too many to walk… Death befalls those who try

…Oh, you think I’m kidding? Hah!

    Nobody knows facility exists,

    nobody knows facility secrets

    Cloaked to prevent discovery,

    cloaked to prevent contamination…

    Remember these words

Facility is a secret to everyone,

    confided to no one…

One can imagine the secrets it contains

Would you believe me if I said

facility was constructed by a nonhuman race?

    Hard to believe

Would you believe me if I said

nonhuman race is millions of years ahead of us? Hard to believe

Would you believe me if I said

nonhuman race can pass as human?

    Hard to believe

…Thrice I asked would you believe me,

    I wonder whether I believe myself…

    Hard to believe

    Yet it’s true,

facility was constructed by a nonhuman race… Cloaked to prevent discovery

The sole building within featureless expanse, nothing but grass beneath and sky above

    Facility’s an impenetrable fortress,

    outsiders cannot breach it…

    Secrets within are safeguarded

The nonhuman race I spoke of,

    they can pass as human…

    The resemblance is uncanny

Yet there are differences telling them apart

from humans, not just as species but as society

They possess power we can only dream of,

the power of gods… Extension of the mind

This power is both tool and weapon,

capable of upending civilization we’ve established

    Thus nonhuman race is sequestered,

    somewhere humans seldom tread…

    Scratch that, never

…I realize I cannot reference these beings as nonhuman race indefinitely, do they have a name?

    They have a binomial nomenclature,

hereafter it references them… Homo differentia!

    As nomenclature suggests,

Homo differentia can pass as human…

    Doesn’t mean they are human

Rather they are a human subspecies,

or maybe they are an alien-human hybrid…

    Either works

    Depends on individual view,

    discretion of individual viewer…

    I should mention something

    Nobody knows of Homo differentia,

and Homo differentia doesn’t know of humans

The facility they constructed, a colony forms around its vicinity… An enclave within our world

Where Homo differentia survives and thrives, cloaked to prevent discovery… Need I echo again?

They possess power we can only dream of,

the power of gods… Extension of the mind

Homo differentia can pass as human,

    the resemblance is uncanny…

    Yet there are differences

The most notable are grey skin and black eyes… One would expect these of an alien, right?

Grey skin mimics ours to the touch, to a T… Setting aside the wordplay, sole difference is color

The shade of grey varies as a specimen matures, from pale-grey to dark-grey and in between

    Among Homo differentia,

    dark-grey skin is reverend…

Shows a specimen mastered their powers

These specimens are on a higher plane,

    given reverence typically reserved

    for colony leader

Even if they’re not colony leader,

    they’re given reverence…

    Any genuflection is genuine

Moving on to black eyes, they do not have lids… They cannot blink, they are always staring

They lack discernible iris or pupil,

    oddity of ocular orifice…

    Another oddity, they’re pure-black

Staring at them is like staring into a void,

    they absorb your soul…

    OK, maybe I’m kidding

There is merit to the statement,

    black eyes are pure-black…

    The void comparison makes sense

    Eyes are protected
