    Acknowledgements:

    Dedicated to my dear grandchildren

without whom I would not have known

    that I could write.

    You are my inspiration!

May you grow in the stature

    and grace of the Lord

as you draw close to Him

    and make Him

    the center of your lives.

    Because I love my Lord

    and because I love you

    and pray for you,

    I am Grandma

    Laughter

    Laughter leapfrogs across the

    lily pads of my life,

    and leads to lavish love!

    Laughter is liquid,

    dazzling the languid, lazy

    longings of a lifetime.

    Laughter lavenders my lamentations,

    rendering them lamentably lax

    while loneliness leaves.

    Laughter levels the Legions

    licking their lying lips

    in loathsome lust

    to lure away my spirit.

    Laughter lifts me up

    to view a lilac landscape

    laced with lessons to learn

    and lighthearted lyrics.

    Laughter lends luscious luster

    to the luxurious

    link with my Lord,

    adding to the length

    of my lilting lambish days.

    Wings

Perched on the grandma side of my heart,

    you try your wings,

then you burrow back eagerly for love and a hug

when your legs buckle and your smile wilts.

Your sleep-heavy eyelids slip silently down

in mute surrender to Grandma’s soft lullaby sounds.

    Saddle-seated on Grandma’s hip

you point at your world –

sailing birds, pink roses, and yellow daisies.

I teach you words while your copy-cat sounds

gurgle as water tumbling from your lips.

I lose myself in your yodel coos,

your I love you smile, and your delicious belly laughs!

Soon your real-life words will take flight.

But you won’t stay molded to me for long

as your perpetual-motion body flings you into space,

    propelling you into realms unknown.

    As you grow and change,

Grandpa and Grandma’s prayers will glide over you daily,

challenging you to soar toward life,

your wing tips brushing your dreams.

    Beg, Plead, Ask

    Lord, I find myself

    on the corner of my
