PROLOGUE
The Chosen
I n the land of Phasinanie stands a castle high on a hill that can be seen from the villages below. The castle holds a magic that has helped to choose the elders and guided them as they lead the people of Phasinanie.
Many have started the journey, but none have made it to the castle in many years, and the people of the village have started to forget the magic held within the walls of the castle on the hill.
Led by five elders, the village has thrived for many generations, but the present elders are growing tired, for they have led their people for a long time and have longed for the chosen to come and take their place.
Will they meet beneath the tree? Will they make the journey and find their places as the next to lead the people of Phasinanie? This is the story of how the hope of the elders comes alive and the magic comes back to the little village of Phasinanie.

The Journey
T he five elders stood together at the village well, watching a group of children sitting under a tree at the end of the village. Jena was the leader of the elders, who helped all with their spiritual quests. Daisy helped maintain the order of the village. Rachel worked with water and all the creatures that lived there. Mica worked with the earth, the growing of the food, and teaching of the land animals. And Roman was the scribe; Roman’s job was to record the history of the village and keep the stories of their ancestors alive.
These five children had been meeting under the tree for more than a week. The village records said that if the same five children met beneath the tree for seven days, they were to be sent to the castle to see if they could learn its secrets.
Jena gave a nod to Roman. Then it’s time that we speak to these children.
Jena left and headed over to the children as the rest of the elders went back to their daily work with hope in their hearts that the time had come for a new group of elders to lead their people.
As Jena’s shadow crossed over the children, Lizzie turned and saw Elder Jena standing over them. Elder Jena had been listening to their conversation. Elder, are the stories true?
Is the castle on the hill truly filled with magic?
asked Lizzie.H
As Elder Jena sat down to join the children, she looked at each of them. They were all so young and full of wonder, just as she had been many years ago, and she hoped these were the five to be the next chosen.
Well, if Roman’s correct in what he teaches you, then yes, they’re true. But the only way to know would be to go to the castle and find out the truth yourself,
said Elder Jena.
But, Elder, we’ve been told that no one’s allowed to go to the castle,
said Harris.
"This is true, Harris. But if you remember from your teachings, sometimes an
