About this ebook

The Story behind the title: Acidic Honey is composed of life's bitter sweet moments. The spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical journeys faced. Life, death, love, lost, happiness and pain. The title was chosen by my dearest friend, Alphonse B. Sims II. He came up with this title for one of his poems. When he shared it with me I fell in love with it. I begged to use it as the title for my first poetry book. He put up a fight but as you can see, I won and there you have it, Acidic Honey.

    With love

    Acknowledgments

First and foremost I thank God for his love, mercy, and grace. Thank you, God for blessing my family, my life, and for giving me the love of writing. Thank you for allowing me to have a voice and be a blessing to others.

I thank my mother. Thank you for being a constant in my life even through the personal struggles you’ve faced. Thank you for your love and support.

I thank my children for being my anchors in life. I thank God for blessing me with each of you. All that I am and all that I aim to be is dedicated to you all. You’ve been my motivation throughout life, my silent yet forceful push to get it together. Roshawn, Reyna and Christian you’re the reason I take a step each and everyday. The reason I continue to get up after each temporary stumble and fall. I love you with all my heart.

I thank everyone that God has allowed to cross my path and touch my heart along the way.

Trise, thanks for being my listening ear morning, noon, day and night. Even across the state lines you’ve been there and I thank you so much for that.

Alphonse, wow, I can never thank you enough for the endless nights of coffee and creative insight. For the encouragement and love you continue to send to me from across the other side of the world. I love you so much; you are the greatest friend ever.

Sgt. D. Baziel, it’s taken me a while but I did it and I owe that to you. You were the first to encourage me to put my poems out for the world to see. That whisper in my ear that tugged at me over the years. Thank you for believing in me and encouraging me.

Sgt. Collins, thank you for the numerous journals over the years you gave me, encouraging me to continue to write. Sometimes the smallest gifts make the biggest impact. You noticed my passion and that touched my heart. Thank you.

I would also like to thank Lynn Trahan, Anthony Falsone, Neil Golemo, and many others who took time to read, comment, suggest, encourage and support me in one way or another. I thank those of you that have touched my life and became my muse along the way. Though I can’t name you all, you know who you are and I thank and love you wholeheartedly.

    Faith, Family, and Finances-

a threefold cord that is not easily broken.

If you can carry these three and not destroy one in pursuit

of another, nothing is impossible to achieve.

    The Greatest Investment

    A Fever In Your House

    Does satan have you bound?

Let The Lord lift you up and turn you around.

Put The Lord first, family second, yourself last,

and blessing from The Lord shall be cast.

When hatred, envy, jealousy, alcohol, and drug abuse abide,

This is a fever that can’t be denied.

Mark chapter 1 verses 27-34 tells you what you can do

When there is a fever in your house and how The Lord can pull you through

Connect your house with the church house, invite Jesus home with you, let the word of

God handle it, and for the results God you trust

All these things are a must

Break your fever from the inside

Let the Word of God be your guide.

    A Prayer For Mom

Each and every day I pray

That our wonderful and graceful Lord would guide my mother his way

Removing alcohol, depression, and loneliness out of her mind and sight

Bit by bit each and every night

I see her fighting a battle that neither I nor her can win alone

A battle of problems that should be taken to The Lord where they belong

He shall put all problems to rest

For Our Lord is the strongest of the strong and the best of the best

    His word will never deceive

If only in him you believe

    So once again I pray

Dear Lord lead my mother your way.

    Amen

    My Father The Businessman

    My Father the businessman

In the business of offering blessings and doing what he can

My Father is also the mailman in my life

He carries away misery and strife

He makes deliveries in the rain, snow, sleet, or hail

    He does everything but fail

He delivers me through all types of trils and tribulations

My Father, Our God, Creator of all nations

Accept The Lord as your savior, share his word, repent your sins, pray and do your holy

    chores

And My Father too can be yours.

    The Toll Free Call

    It’s that time of year

    To spread the Christmas cheer

    A joyous time for many

    A better time than any

To share with those I love

A message about the toll free call above

A call that can be made in any season

To give thanks, praise or for any reason

Especially when your day seems to cast no light

Things appear as dark as night

    A shadow begins to fall

That’s the best time to make that call

A call made to the One

    Yes, His Only Begotten Son

He who promised to be our salvation in the midst of a storm

He who does not discriminate in any way, shape, or form

    The bearer of all pain
