Introduction

The ability to read is, without a doubt, one of the most important skills that we require to survive and thrive as humans. Usually, we learn how to read very early in life and spend the rest of our lives, developing this skill. Typically, a normal adult can read about 250 to 300 words per minute. However, many studies have shown that with the right training and daily practice, anyone can increase their reading skills and become better at speed reading. The average reading rate of a speed reader can be as high as 1500 words per minute. Although this sounds very alluring, it is important to realize that comprehension is just as important, if not more important, than simply reading fast. It is, therefore, important for one to develop their comprehension skills  along with their reading abilities.
