Poetica Amoris
()
About this ebook
A collection of Love poems. Not all love poems are immediately recognised because the allegorical content might mislead the unwary. Whilst Love is known to be a truly profound, heartfelt emotion the fact that it is so often misunderstood in real life, means that some readers might not notice that an apparently descriptive poem about a rose, is actually an allegory describing a sweetheart. This book does not confuse passion or infatuation with Love, because Love is an emotion in an altogether different league.

Can I Know What I Will Sense.
––––––––
Can you hear an atmosphere?
Can you touch a feeling?
Can you see a special taste?
Or smell the church bells peeling?
-
Can you know the pain to come?
Whilst in the act of falling?
Will your senses all be clear
when true love comes a calling?

Walking in Dreams.
––––––––
Put your head upon my shoulder,
Then please close those weary eyes,
In your land of dreams imagine,
Let me hear your happy sighs,
As we tread the time worn footpaths,
Over England’s pleasant land,
River valleys, chilly hill-tops,
Shelving shores of tide washed sand.
-
All about see Mother Nature,
Share the touch of grass and leaves,
Watch the lambs play by the river,
See the swans furl in the breeze.
Reach the old bench by the oak tree,
Sit to rest our feet a while,
Then it’s off along some skyline,
Under bridge and over style.
-
In our world there are no crossroads,
Not one signpost points the way,
Destination has no meaning,
When your heart is only dreaming,
Skies are blue and never grey.
-
Though this land be razed by fire,
Washed away in tempest rains,
Willing hands clasped tight together,
With our love we’ll walk forever,
Our imagined leafy lanes.

So Rarely Somnolent.
––––––––
Who comes to see me every night?
When final sighs soft close my eyes,
Whilst stars across the heavens creep,
My spirit leaps into the skies.
No longer must I simply rest,
As if by somnolescence blessed,
For I’ll beside some river stroll,
To greet and so your fair hand hold.
Set off to stride some woodland ride,
Then share the rolling countryside,
To rest beneath some shady tree,
Together, but to ever be.
You pass into the shadows then,
But ne’er can I be warned quite when,
Please keep this real as it seems,
Persephone of all my dreams.

Please
––––––––
Please let me touch your hand
To feel the gentleness you are,
Please let me stroke your hair
So I will know you from afar.
Please let me kiss your lips
To sense the softness of your face,
Please let me hear your voice
to share the pleasure of your grace.
Please may you oft remember well,
That, come the time to part,
Those simple words, I love you,
Caress a yearning heart.
