About this ebook
After leaving Primrose, everyone and everything she knew behind, without an explanation, Rose knew coming back would be hard.
Coming face to face with her husband, Warren, has forced her to face the guilt of leaving, and the loss of their unborn child, something she had avoided and buried deep inside.
Their love had always been a secret, kept hidden from everyone, especially their families back home. But when confronted with the possibility of losing him forever, it makes her rethink everything, makes her realise she still loves and still wants Warren with all of her heart.
Warren had spent the past five years working, earning and ignoring how betrayed he felt when his wife left without an explanation.
Her leaving had destroyed him, he locked away his feelings for Rose from his mind, not willing to dwell on the emptiness within.
Having her back in Primrose had thrown him for a loop, he never expected to see Rose again. Her reappearance has him rethinking everything, dwelling on their past, on their families trying to figure out what went wrong.
Guilt, confusion and hurt envelope them both.
But will they be able to have a second chance? Is it possible to rekindle their love once again?

Chapter 1
Rose pushed open the door to the waiting room with what little energy she had left and felt her shoulders slump forward. Her fists clenched at her side. She was acutely aware that her shirt had splatters of blood across it. Her face and eyes must have been pale and her blonde hair a mess after the night she had.
She lifted her hand and gazed at it. Even though it was impossible, her skin tingled at the memory of Warren’s hand against hers. It was so real, if she hadn’t been looking at her hand, she would think it truly was there.
Rose?
Eric’s voice reached her ears.
His touch on her arm caught her attention, brought her back to the present, in some way at least. Rose lifted her head and looked at her old partner, her former colleague. His dreadlocks were just the same, his dark skin close to a dark chocolate colour. His brown eyes looked pained, worried but she couldn’t process much of anything. She knew he had spoken, but she had no idea what he said. All her strength, all her bravado was gone.
Arms enveloped her and she looked to see Eric’s girlfriend Charlie sat beside her, her arms wrapped around her. She expected to be annoyed but instead, she was numb, empty.
She was so glad Charlie was safe. It was clear the petite redhead meant a lot to Eric, the look in his eyes made that obvious. Her red hair hung in curls down her back but was dirtied by mud and other debris from the farm they had just escaped.
Thinking about the farm had her mind shifting back to Warren and she shook her head.
He’ll be fine,
Charlie assured and pulled her into her arms once again.
The hope in her words, the assurance irked her and yet, her heart needed to hear them, but it took less than a second for Rose to break down.
I cannot lose him... I cannot...
she hiccupped in between her tears.
Have the doctors said anything?
Rose pushed out of Charlie’s arms and accepted a hug off Eric before shaking her head and blowing her nose on a tissue.
No. He has been in surgery for a while.
She forced a deep breath into her lungs then added. The only thing I know is there was no exit wound, so the bullet is somewhere inside still. They need to find it before it does any more damage. With it being so close to his heart...
Her voice faltered and, utterly devastated she collapsed into a chair and buried her head in her hands, her eyes peaked between her fingers when Eric spoke again.
I’m sorry Rose, that bullet was meant for me,
he growled and gripped the back of his head in anger. I should be the one in that operating theatre.
Fury coursed through her as she had never known before.
Eric blamed himself.
She refused to allow her good friend to think anything of the kind.
Oh no, you shouldn’t!
Rose snapped and jumped to her feet. The only person who should be on that table is the bitch who; kidnapped and tortured Charlie, hurt all those poor dogs, lied to the whole Valley, stole money from innocent people, held a gun to my head and shot the man I love!
Rose clapped a hand over her mouth.
She always had a habit of speaking before thinking, even as a child and she had to learn over the years to be careful. Had learnt to be guarded with her feelings for Warren. They both had. Their relationship had to be kept quiet and hidden for them to be able to be together.
Her father would never allow her to be with a Finnigan.
And she knew Warren’s family never wanted him to be with a Moore.
She found it ironic how their families agreed on one thing after all.
Eric rested both hands on Rose’s shoulders and squeezed them affectionately. I knew all of that. Calm down. What I meant was whilst you and Charlie were on the ground, I was coming for Betty, she pointed her gun at me, but Warren came at her from the side, she spun and shot. He took that bullet for me. I think he wanted to kill the woman who pointed a gun at you.
He hugged her. I have no idea what happened with you two, hadn’t realised until tonight there was anything between you. But if you love each other, then sort it out.
It’s not that simple.
Rose paled at his words, shook her head, and pulled away. Sometimes love doesn’t work. Sometimes it’s nothing.
Or sometimes it’s everything,
Charlie said gently and moved to Eric’s side and leaned her head on his chest.
She looked between them both, their feelings for one another clear as day. A pang of jealousy hit her as she wished many times that her relationship with Warren could have been different.
She longed to sing it from the rooftops and declare her love for all to see.
But she knew that was one thing that would never-could never-happen.
Don’t tell him what I said.
Rose pleaded, her heart ached at the thought of denying everything, but she knew she had no choice. Please don’t. I cannot deal with any of that right now.
It is not for us to tell,
Charlie assured her.
For the rest of the wait, they remained in silence.
Rose sat with her head down and hands curled in her lap. Her eyes were closed, and she silently prayed for Warren to be alright. He had to be alright. Even if they were not together anymore, he had to live. There could be no world without him in it.
She heard the door to the waiting room open but refused to lift her head. Rose didn’t care about anyone but a doctor. All she wanted was to hear news on Warren’s condition.
"What are you doing here Rose?" A familiar voice growled at her.
Kenny don’t.
A softer voice said.
Rose tensed she recognised both voices. She should have realised they would arrive sooner or later, but she hadn’t expected the animosity to be so strong. Not wanting to have a confrontation whilst her head and heart were all over the place, she remained silent.
She had been scared of this, scared her old friends would hate her for what happened all those years ago. Especially Kenny. She hated herself if she was honest about it. But she couldn’t change the past.
She left without any warning deserted Warren with only a note of goodbye. If that had happened to any of her friends, she would be angry too. But there was no way she would be spoken to in such a way.
She had her reasons for doing what she did, she didn’t need
