    My Story

With a mission in mind, earning a 6-figure income as a freelancer is very possible. Attaining this goal takes careful planning, applying proven strategies, and relentlessness.

I had pitched so much almost every day that one of my friends called me relentless. I felt compelled to find out its definition and see if I matched up with what these professionals thought I was all about.

The dictionary defines the word relentless as persistent and unyielding. I could live with that, and so can you as a freelancer.

I will share my freelancing journey with you to give you an example of how to earn more money from your talent and to expand on it in several areas.

I believed it when my parents told me that I was sitting on a million bucks and didn’t even know it.

My parents were always talking in parables when I was a kid. I can stake my life on the fact that this was a saying handed down to them through generations.

I didn’t know it then, but it was a sure sign of things to come. I pondered over their affirmation many a day, especially when I was in a financial rut. Unfortunately, this was more often than not in my early days as a freelancer.

Part of the challenge derived from the fact that I was not taught to be a business owner. My generation was taught to get an education or trade and then get a well-paying, stable job, respectively.

Then, I decided to dissect the words of the allegory. To me, it meant that I had the internal makings and drive to earn lots of money.

My first inkling to try to see if these words had any truth to them came when the place where I worked abruptly closed. I had no idea what to do. I had to dig deep.

I came up with a plan to contact everybody I had come into contact with over the years and explain that I was looking to start my own editorial venture. They knew I could write, I was personable, and I had a slew of media contacts.

These three attributes that I acquired over the years were sure to win them over. And fortunately, it did. Lawyers, doctors, politicians, small businesses, politicians, department heads, and individuals wanted a piece of the action.

My mind was going in a million areas and landed on a lesson I’d learned many years ago in a marketing class.

One-third of every list of contacts will more than likely become a sale. This was the law of marketing. This was the answer.
