About this ebook

In 2016 Martha was diagnosed with breast cancer. I woke up every morning and began to write what was on her heart. It was important for her to reflect on the many experiences when God spoke to her and walked her through her life's journey. As she did, the messages continued flowing from her pen. As she found herself being encouraged by these thoughts and stories, she soon realized that they were taking the form of a devotional that she could share with others who were going through similar challenges.

    Reflections - Martha Trice

    Lord

    Introduction

A few years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was devastating. My heavenly Father faithfully walked me through the seemingly long ordeal. About two years after the journey, I woke up every morning and began to write what was on my heart. It was important for me to reflect on the many experiences when God spoke to me and walked me through my life’s journey. I have never considered myself a writer, but the messages continued flowing from my pen. I pray these words of encouragement will guide you through the storms you may face.

Through 47 years of marriage to a wonderful man, 40 years of ministry, countless musical performances, and years of teaching music—Jesus has been my constant companion.

I dedicate this book to my mother, Martha Louise Miller, who wrote her life’s journey through poetry. She sincerely endeavored to be a writer.

To my sisters, Barbara Kurtz, Nancy Pierce, and Bonnie Graupp, who are my heroes. These three have guided me through countless times of laughter and tears. We fondly remember our brother Bill, who walked this path before me. I cherish the rich conversations the last year of his life. To my wonderful son Travis and his wife Jessica, you are a blessing beyond imagination and the three precious gifts you have given us Evan, Juliet and Toby are a dream come true!

A special thank you to my husband Robbie, whose encouragement paved the way for this book, and whose love embodies that of my Savior. I love you. You are the best!

    Your Story

Everyone has a story, and your Once Upon a Time began the moment you were conceived as a tiny seed in your mother’s womb.

As you grew, the unsolved question marks in your life became the very ear-mark of your dependence upon your Creator. This is where your story began to unfold. Though maturing and striving to appear unscathed by life’s difficulties, you turned to Him, as if to say, You’ve made me. Now what? You began to see that life is held in the palm of His hands and the center of His love.

This was the part of your journey when He declared, You were created to know Me and to let others see Me through you. Your story won’t have a perfect ending because you did everything correctly. It will be a story we write together. A journey filled with mistakes, mishaps, and wrong choices, yet covered by grace when you turned to Me. I will tell the world that you are My child, and I am proud of you. I will be your perfect ending!

    PSALM 139:14

    You Don’t Love Me!

Most of us have heard a child scream, You don’t love me! Usually, as an expression of frustration when the child doesn’t get his way. Children can grow accustomed to believing that life is all about them if we’re not careful. The human spirit is definitely wrapped up in itself! But gradually, children grow. They are weaned from the All about me, existence and spend a lifetime maturing.

Now let’s switch gears. When you were born again and became a new baby in Christ, you learned of His great love for you. He opened doors of favor and blessing. By His amazing love and grace, He led you to new opportunities and new people. You learned that He cares about every detail of your life. It seemed as though you
