About this ebook

In this dark, paranormal short story, a coming of age tale, Scott and his family move into their new home, in the middle of summer. On the surface, they were settling into your typical quaint lower-middle class suburban neighborhood. We follow Scott’s exploration of the place as he battles to make friends, gains acquaintances and as he goes on to discover that his new home harbors a dark secret. Can one tell the difference between imagination and actually talking to a non-human entity?

The pair of clammy hands was firmly glued to the back window of the tiny red sedan. The little boy’s large beady eyes darted about excitedly, as his dropped jaw quivered with anticipation. The family car had pulled into a cozy suburban neighborhood. Three boys and two girls kicked a ball around, playing rather dangerously on the road according to Fred’s voiced frustration.

Bah! Kids have no fear for cars these days… The bald driver had gleaned on bitterly as the tiny car and trailer in tow slowly drove past the group of kids. They’d run off to the side of the road. One of the girls waved at Scott, who, peeling his hand off the window had vigorously reciprocated the warm gesture.

Oh, you’re sure to make lots of friend here, sweetie. The sweet silky skinned chubby woman glared back, gripping the back of her seat in order to pivot and face the little rascal now kneeling in his seat. Scottie had all but forgotten about his ceaseless ramblings on how he’d imagined the house to look like.
