    Chapter One

    Naughty Monrita

    Bara lived in Boro village. It was an environment devoid of the hustle and bustle, hither and thither of city life. People from neighboring towns often came to Boro to buy food items such as vegetables, plantain, yam, as well as Bara’s bush meat.

    Bara lived entirely on hunting and gathering of bushmeat. He hunted with guns, bows, arrows, cutlass and knife. He kept his cartridges in bags made of animal skin. Hunting is predominantly a male activity but women are allowed to play a minor role with the collection of the killed animals.

    Bara had a dog, Jaja, which often accompanied him hunting. He loved Jaja, and also had a beautiful daughter, Monrita. Right from when she was a little girl, Monrita had always desired to go hunting with her father, even though girls
