    I once heard it said that when love decides the moment, God shows up. Evelyn has done an outstanding job highlighting the driving theme of the Bible in its entirety and God’s heart from the very beginning - It all can be summed up in one word: Love. She beautifully weaves in the concepts of intimacy, worship, and understanding the tenderness of the heart of God. Are you looking to more fully understand the loving heart of God and to be more fully understood by God in His fullest - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit? Then I wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful book.

    Evelyn Lang has found a way to express the Father’s love in her new book A Lifetime Of Love which has an easy to digest format. Its simplicity is profound. Its reading is smooth and carefully crafted. It is written in such a way that the simple and astute person will both glean something of great value from it. It is a tremendous blessing to the Kingdom of God. Anyone who is looking to learn more about God’s love through relationships needs to read this book.

    One’s spiritual development is often woefully neglected even though it has been shown to be the basis of genuine serenity, successful relationships and the courage to change. The chapters of this book are generously written from prayerful moments of reflection between Evelyn and God. As a result you will find countless gems of wisdom in settings of clarity, introspection, practicality and humor. I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking the only One who knows and loves you best through any and all circumstances.

    Joanne J. Smith, MSW, LCSW, BCD, psychotherapist, Ringwood, New Jersey

    What a beautiful, easy reading, and detailed description of love in its many dimensions.

    This book helps us learn about our love relationship with God and as a by-product what true love is in our earth-bound relationships, especially in our marriages. It beautifully describes our Heavenly Father’s love as a parent for His children and the love of Christ as a bridegroom for His bride. It discusses many issues in marriage such as the blame game and how to change feuding over finances to fairness.

    The Lord has gifted Mrs. Lang with the ability to use common well known items to cleverly help us understand complex issues - like using a balloon to show us how to avoid dominant control in marriage, using hot chocolate to discuss one aspect of the Holy Spirit’s work, and using an egg (with its white and yolk) to show different opinions by spouses as a good thing. And much more.

    Jim Biscardi Jr., President Emeritus of New Jersey Christian Ministries

    A Lifetime of Love will bless you as Evelyn explains about the deep love that the Lord has for us and the power of that love. What wonderful insight she gives on the beautiful relationship that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit long to have with us.

    Foreword

    I have long believed in the biblical principle of love. Evelyn Lang has God’s anointing and the leading of the Holy Spirit to tell this compelling story.

    We met a few years ago on my television program called It’s Time for Herman and Sharron. Evelyn and Bill just fit together. They were comfortable with each other and they had The Love Relationship. Since the interview, Bill has graduated. He is now experiencing complete love.

    This book instructs the body of Christ, biblically and practically, how to have a lifetime of love. Evelyn reminds us how much the Lord loves to be with us. As you read the words, you will quickly realize this person has experienced dream talk with the Lord. Evelyn loves the Lord in an unusual and personal way.

    So let’s take this read together, and enjoy A Lifetime of Love.

    Introduction

    When God told me that I would be writing a book on love, I wondered how this book would be any different from what is already out there. And what more could anyone need to know about love than they already know? Love is love, isn’t it? I was surprised at what God had to tell me — how involved and complex love really is.

    One would think that this book would be all gushy, but instead it is a reality book. Like so many of the new TV shows, this book gets down to the real and true and not just the feel good fluff. It deals with real issues for real people and for real-life experiences. It is about the love relationship and the three facets of the Lord’s love for us. It is about the Father’s love for us as His child, Jesus’ love for us as His bride, and the Holy Spirit’s love for us as our comforter and friend. It deals with our spiritual love for God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as well as our earthly love for our spouses, families, friends, and it also addresses the hurts we may have from dealing with real, ordinary, everyday, imperfect people. (It has some gush, too.)

    Sometimes we are at the Lord’s feet, where He instructs us with His wisdom — where He teaches with love. Sometimes, we are in His lap when He comforts and holds us as a child. And sometimes we walk right beside Him, as He communicates to us as His friend, and as we carry out His plans.

    Opening my eyes to it all has not always been easy, as God very often teaches me by experience. However, one thing has always been constant: God’s great love for His people.

    There are many books on love, but this one will get to the heart of it!

    Chapter 1

    Won’t You Be My Valentine?

    Love — people tend to use the word so lightly — they love this dress, they love this food, they love this house, car, etc. So they don’t always realize that when God says He loves them, His love is very deep. In fact, we can never really fully understand the extent of His love. When we get to heaven we’ll know more, however, no human on earth can love as the Lord does. Love is everything. It is the answer to many problems. If everyone had love, there would be no crime, no hurting others. Love is the key.

    Young people think that love is physical attraction. That’s only the very start. Many give up on love when that physical attraction gets old, and the excitement and newness wear off. They carry this over to the Lord when the excitement and newness they feel for Him wears off. But love isn’t just a feeling of lust or excitement when something is new. Love is a bond between two people that does not say what can you do for me, or how can you make me feel good — and then leaves if it does not get its way; rather, it says what can I do for you? It is giving, not taking. True love grows, but it does not grow old. It is a commitment that remains true, even when times get hard. If swans can mate for life, why can’t people who are made in God’s image? And why does their love for God grow cold?

    I felt God’s heart as He spoke to me about this very thing. God is the same. He does not change. But people can change in their emotions and feelings — even for Him. They grow tired of Him. They get angry with Him. How His heart aches when they turn away from Him in the night and look the other way during the day. What happened to their first love? Who turned their heads? But the Lord says that He has not looked the other way or turned from you. Where did you go? He waits with open arms. He says, Come, let Me love you. Let Me draw you unto Myself. I desire you.

    I think that love is all-encompassing to the Lord.

    L = life and more abundantly

    O = no beginning, no end

    V = victory

    E = everlasting to everlasting-eternal

    We all get excited about God’s love for us in the beginning when we are new in Christ. It is the beginning of the love relationship. But then sometimes as we go along in our walk, we get lukewarm. God’s love is still there, but we don’t sense it as much. We get used to it and desensitized to Him. When we get so familiar with someone, we can take them for granted. The same is true for spouses.
