As a Motivational Coach and Speaker, my goal is "to empower people move to the next level of success in their lives." Many people have asked for more information about me and why I am qualified to motivate others. So here's a little bit about me and how I got here. It all started back in Fresno, CA where I was born and raised. As a child I knew I had a calling to help people be happier and live better lives. I knew this because I was keenly observant of people. I observed people and how they lived their lives. At age 10 a friend's family invited me to a musical show called "Up With People!" This show had a major impact on me, and brought up my passion to help people be happier. Although my parents didn't care about my grades, I received all A's in school except I always failed Oral English. I couldn't get up in front of the class and speak. What kept me going in school was my desire for a career in the helping/teaching profession, so I could help others become more successful. The females in my family were discouraged from going to college, so higher education became my way of rebelling. I earned my B.A. in Education from CSU Fresno. During college I had some wonderful professors who took me under their wing and encouraged me to speak in class. I learned that I enjoyed teaching and actually had a gift that had previously been repressed. I went on to get my teaching credential and taught Jr. and Sr. High School for 7 years. I went from a shy little girl who couldn't speak in front of the class to a big girl who couldn't STOP speaking in front of the class! Teaching adolescents was an amazing experience! I found that I wanted to work with them more one-on-one, so I went back to college to become a counselor. I received my M.S. in Counseling/Psychology from the University of Miami and became licensed as a Marriage & Family Therapist. Initially I set out to get a wide range of experience. I worked in a children's psych hospital in dual diagnosis, managed a residential treatment program for severely emotionally disturbed teenage girls, conducted biofeedback therapy for a pain management center, and worked in social services in the areas of foster care, child abuse and family reunification. Once I became licensed I worked in a private counseling practice for 7 years. I specialized in relationship counseling. Smart Women Finish Rich

According to the New York Post in an article by Christian Gollayan, a new survey (Feb. 2019) found that most women (still) get rich through marrying a rich spouse. When I grew up I never heard a female say, I’m going to be rich. I did hear quite a few females saying, I’m going to marry a rich man. I heard my father and one of my brothers say it, but never a female. Nor did anyone ever say I should strive to earn good money or think about preparing for my financial security. Conversely, they said if I wanted to be rich, I’d better marry a rich man. No one EVER said I should get an education or think about a career. But that was back in the old days. Thankfully, women are more empowered these days – and not afraid to ANNOUNCE that they will become rich! And it’s that very declaration that most often makes it happen.

Women on average, continue to earn less than men. In 2018, the ratio of women’s to men’s median weekly full-time earnings was 81.1 percent in the U.S. Women earn about 20% less than men for the same jobs. This is what’s called the gender wage gap. Women also tend to pursue lower paying jobs than men. As much as we all want equality and equal pay (men actually want this too), the reality is that most women are raised in an environment where they are not as encouraged as men to go after high paying jobs.

When I was growing up very few women worked outside the home. Women were homemakers and mothers. It was a white man’s world. By the time I went to college women were racing into the workforce. Now it was more of a man’s world, as women and minorities took the lower paying jobs. Now, the workforce has pretty well evened out, except that women and minorities still predominantly have lower paying jobs. That’s the bad news. Now for the good news!

Things they are a-changing. In 2018 more women entered college than men. Women are scoring nearly as high as men on aptitude and entrance exams, much higher than ever before. More and more women are entering male-dominated fields. Young girls are being prepped for a great education and a great job much earlier. More and more women are moving up the income stream, earning millions, and in fact,
