My purpose is to inspire and encourage you to overcome the grueling challenges life may throw at you so that you can rise to the fullness of your purpose and destiny. Life is not always so straightforward and is not always so black and white. There will be moments where you may question your very existence and you may feel like giving up. Whatever you do, do not take your faith off the field. Change is happening with or without us. The best decision we can make is to decide to embrace this change, rise to the task and march to the drumbeat of our season. The journey may be long and winding at times but we will get to our final destination. We are only given a short role on the major stage of life; let's make it count. Rene’ Oliver

Rene' Oliver is a single mother to two gifted daughters. She is daughter to Bishop Robin and Jean Oliver of Interfellowship Global Ministries. She is a people's person and an academic, who holds her Honours in Psychology as well as her Post Graduate Certificate in Education Cum Laude. She has also completed her Bachelor of Administration degree as well as her Post Graduate Certificate in Management. She is well-traveled and has obtained her Certificate in Ministry from Hillsong College in Sydney Australia. She is an ordained minister and singer who has ministered both locally and internationally. She is a pastor and counselor at Interfellowship Global Ministries in Durban, South Africa who is passionate about psychology and education within the Biblical context. Her story will inspire and encourage you to rise above your challenges in order to become the person that God has intended for you to be.

My two amazing daughters who are the best parts of me, my beloved parents Robin and Jean Oliver as well as my dearly loved family of two brothers, one sister including my nine nieces and nephews. The role of our church has been vital in my life including all who have played a significant part in my growth and development. I am forever grateful.

Preface

Regardless of what you face in this life, you can always choose to rise above. You have the power to redirect your mind and your thoughts at any moment. Recognize the strategy of the enemy so that you know how to fight. God has given you the power to rise again. Your purpose is greater than any challenge you may face. Renew your mind with the truth of what God says about you and make a conscious effort to overcome.

Healing is a process yet it is a choice. In order to live to a new life you may have to first die to your old one. Don’t be afraid to start again. It may actually turn out to be better than it was before. If you waiting for everything to be perfect before you enjoy your life don’t be surprised if you’ll be waiting your whole life. Make a decision to live your life and enjoy each day starting now. It’s time for your glow up! You have what it takes. You are stronger than you think. With God on your side there’s no way you can lose. Resist all fear and refuse to give up. Set your mind to keep going. You’ll be surprised at what you capable of. You got this!

Foreword

God is a very gracious God! He chooses ordinary people like you and me to build He’s church and He’s Kingdom.

Jean and I have been blessed with four beautiful children. Two sons and two daughters and all of whom have already been married and have blessed us with eleven grandchildren.

Any responsible parent will always make sure that every child or grandchild is treated fairly but every responsible parent also recognizes the individual needs of each child!

From the day Rene’ was born I was put in a position where I needed to help Jean as  Deborah was born soon after. I almost instinctively began to feel an obligation to look after Rene. Both of my girls have obtained undergraduate and postgraduate quaIifications.I have always believed that all of my children were intelligent enough to achieve anything that they really desired but Rene’ has been blessed with an aptitude for studying and has achieved her Bachelor’s degree in Administration and Post Graduate certificates in Management and Education as well as her Honours in Psychology. She has also spent a year at Hillsong Leadership College in Sydney Australia.

She is multi talented! A public communicator, she can sing and is a natural born leader. Rene’ always seemed to excel in whatever she does. She was ordained into ministry by Pastor Ray Mc Cauley. Rene’ has God’s divine favour on her life. As her father I am honoured to be able to share these few thoughts for her first book.

FOREWORD

I have known Rene for the past 20 years and have witnessed her phenomenal development both personally and academically.

Rene has in the face of great adversity progressed academically with distinctions. Her academic history includes certificates of merit for first place at school through most grades. She obtained a distinction in political science during in her first degree whilst pregnant with her eldest child. She achieved several distinctions during her second year and final year of psychology degree. This was whilst she going through a separation from her then husband. Despite going through divorce and living in an outbuilding as a single mother with her daughter on a very limited income, she achieved distinction in therapeutic psychology on honours level. She has also achieved a distinction for vocal performance at Hillsong College Australia. Finally she graduated with distinction for the post graduate certificate in education.

Rene has also developed considerable personal resources, resilience and is considered a worthy role model in her community. She embodies leadership characteristics. This is evidenced by being a community youth leader for about 15 years. During that time she contributed to the youth membership growing from a handful to over 300 young people. For the past 20 years, she has been part of the leadership at the church she attends. She also manages women empowerment and youth events. She is a sort after public speaker. As evidenced by being invited to speak at young adult and female events as a life coach using her life experience as well as her education.

Rene’s enhanced skills are also valued within the context of governance, audit and research. She is also involved in planning and organization of teaching and training activities. She has an aptitude to utilize knowledge from previous experiences and translate into new settings and problem solving.

Rene continually demonstrates high levels of motivation and resilience and this is evidenced in her academic progress in the face of great adversity. Her motivation can also be demonstrated by taking responsibility for her continual professional development and ability to motivate and inspire all that know or come into contact with her.

I confidently recommend that reading her autobiography will inspire, motivate and change your life.

If you want to be inspired to never give up on what God has in store for you , this is a must read. I am amazed at how the author shared such insights into her life; this could not have been easy.

The book takes you through a journey of stepping into the new, reinventing oneselves for a greater purpose and finding the balance that we so desperately desire.

What makes this a great read is that it draws the reader into the many storms that life throws at us and would resonate with so many people who are going through various challenges that life  brings; but yet we hope.
