As an author of well over 30 novels, it was brought to my attention that I spend time in a couple of these stories regarding cam shows, as part of the plot.

To write about a topic, one just about must live it. I wrote this lovely romance called Perpetual Palpitation.

As part of the plot, the love interest has a thing for sailing. I flew to Florida, chartered a sailboat, and learned about lines, sails, jibbing, and so on.

I learned lots of important things during this rather inauspicious time of my life. One of the main things I learned is, the motion of the ocean never ceases. Think about that. There is a reason we have legs, and not tails and fins, but I digress.

Another important thing that I bet many of you don’t know. There are no ropes on a sailboat. I know many of you who are scratching your head right now. ‘TW, we are reading this book because we are failing at showing off our tits for cash.

Why are you telling us about ropes?"

One of the first things you need to know about your job, whatever the hell it is, is this, you must be committed to it. There are some of you out there reading these words who have only played with the idea of stripping for strangers.

Ropes on a sailboat are called lines. Specifically, each line has a name which serves its purpose. After I was given my lesson about lines and what they do, I asked where these lines are made… Some company with Rope in the title of the company. Pffft. Why? Why am I belaboring this point?

I spent over three thousand dollars for this little bit of education, so I could write a novel that my audience would not pick apart from losing interest in it because I said ‘rope.’

That my dears is commitment! And one of the very first lessons. Are you ready to do what it takes to be successful at your job? Are you ready to create a menu with selections for God only knows what? Are you sure you can accept five dollars to show them your pussy?

Was that shocking enough?

There are hundreds if not thousands on as I type right now at 3AM sitting on their ass eating up valuable bandwidth staring in to the camera, fully dressed like a lump on a log. They don’t have a clue what the hell they are doing. Just possibly they are not committed.

As an author, I am willing to put it out there so when my ‘audience’ reads my words they hear the voice of my characters. In that novel, I had to learn more than what the hell a line was for. I learned the physics of a yacht that is powered by wind. I also learned about land legs, motion sickness, and why anyone would want to live on a sailboat would have to be a little cray cray.

When I penned Under Roswell, I took some characters to Russia. I went so far as to find Russian restaurants owned and operated by Russians and experienced them. Using street view, I virtually walked the streets of some Russian towns.

Meeting some Russians, I learned that the Russian people, like Americans, are friendly.

Now, I still would like to visit Russia one day, but the book has been on the shelves for years.

When I wrote Cyber Subs, I researched the rather dark world of BDSM. That was after one of my twitter followers had in her bio that she was a Cyber Slut. I had never heard of Cam Shows. Following the link in her bio, let’s just say I was taken aback. At that time, about 480 girls were active on this one site.

As of the writing of this book, there are over 2000 models on one of at least a dozen sites. ‘Just Wow!’

Researching cam shows, one can quickly determine what some are doing incorrectly. After interviewing some cam ladies, I felt compelled to assist them where I could.

I started out with some ‘blunt’ language because if it offended anyone, just hopefully they would put the book down and decide to do something else. If you are easily offended this job is not for you. If you are a feminist who is looking for something to be offended by, look elsewhere.

This job plays to the misogynist, the perverts and the lonely.

Can you put that aside, realize that these people, your audience, are not really that bad? Can you embrace who your audience is and play to them?

I will address this later in the book but, you are acting. If you have ever acted in a production of any kind, this is acting. We have all seen movies with nude scenes. From graphic porn to shower scenes, they all play to those same audiences.

When you shut off the camera at the end of the night or day, can you detach yourself from the actions you just completed?

I wrote two books that have as the theme, this type of entertainment. In those pages, I try to enlighten any reader who might choose to do this as a profession.

It has been years since those were published, and after another twitter follower came from another site, I went back to that link.

Why are cam-sites popular? Why are more people playing video games than ever before?

The world lockdown has changed the planet in ways we can only begin to understand.

While the founder of Amazon is raking it in because of the virus, cam girls are also doing well. Some cam girls, that is.

Spending much of my adult life in working for a giant advertising and PR firm, I learned many things. One of those things which is no secret, sex sells.

From cars, boats and tractors, a beautiful girl standing by it, garnered the attention of the male who was most probably the audience. ‘Key word… audience.’

At the time of this writing, the world is experiencing unprecedented turmoil. Chaos has erupted on our streets as pent-up frustrations explode on the nightly news.

Then the news reports on the sex workers. From the pole dancer and the sweaty men sitting at your feet, there are now cam shows. Advertising an industry few had heard of, now cam shows are in the living rooms of everyday America.

This reporter was talking about cam sites and models. He produced a video that he could show on TV. Many of the cam-sites we see today were now shocking a generation who barely understands Google. I had a previous knowledge of this industry, had written a couple of novels with cam shows as a subplot, and moved on.

The interesting thing is the progression of how these sites came to be.

From the early days of black and white film cameras to silent movies, nude women and yes, men have made their place in history on celluloid. (film)

The sex industry has a revenue from $15 Billion to $97 Billion a year. Why the wide delta? Not all of this income is reported. Shocking!

When cameras went digital nude pictures flooded what were bulletin board systems and eventually something called Usenet groups on servers all over the world. Subscriptions were sold to people who harvested tens of thousands of pictures and other files, all with a wink and a nod.

Smart phones added a whole new aspect to porn. Sexting became a thing which many politicians got caught up in. Not only do men like to see things, it appears they like to show things. Other things were introduced to our world like revenge porn and the ever ubiquities dick pick.

As an author, I was thrilled when they made a law against sending unsolicited dick picks. I digress.

Early forms of ‘services’ were created where individuals could ‘cam’ with others. The early webcams had such a pitiful resolution that telling who or what you were looking at was not worth the effort.
