Remember Who You Are - Marie Paula Assamoua
KENNEDY
INTRODUCTION
I do not recall most of my childhood memories factually. Oh my God, I cannot believe I am actually saying that, but the truth is, I do not even remember my first birthdays; it seems like they never actually existed.
Like most people, I remember few events; my parents always took us on road trips. My dad putting a mattress at the back of his beloved Range Rover Vogue 1987 where me, my two brothers, and cousins were chilling and playing at the back whilst listening to UB40’s Labour of Love album over and over and over again.
Once upon a time when I was eleven years old, I remember hearing and seeing my parents fighting in their room and I could clearly hear the screaming and shouting – even right now as I am writing – so I ran to their room and opened the door seeing both my parents physically abusing each other. I can still recollect clearly what I saw, what I heard, and what I felt. This is an experience that I can describe even in my sleep.
Today, I feel blessed to speak out and share this experience within a few words in this precious book, as each day, many of us are still fighting against experiences and emotions of the same nature, especially the ones that seem very uncomfortable, uneasy and challenging in our lives and the lives of those we love. We attach ourselves to the mistakes, the faults which resulted in the negative conditions and we think we are nothing more than those mistakes, which become our identity. Let me assure you, this is just an illusion. It is not the truth.
I am honoured to allow my past, pains, sorrows, and successes to remind me of my journey and most importantly, the better and brighter day the journey created in the hope that of guiding someone somewhere to a better understanding and perhaps a brighter state of consciousness. Do not be ashamed as your pain is the promise of more joy, harmony, and happiness. There is a huge difference between being alive and living. You are alive even walking in the darkest shadows, but only when you choose to engrave the truth, can you be saved and feel the truth.
Indeed, there is nothing more inspiring and creative than life itself which would not be relevant without human existence. However we often refuse to feel alive by doubts and confusion. It is our birthright, God’s vision and promise from the day we were created.
You are already awakening to this new reality which is exactly why you are reading this book. I bless the names and roles of all the people that contributed towards my path of awakening, whether or not those people brought strength through inspiration and good will, or weaknesses and doubts through control and negative actions, I am still the woman of today with the fears and hopes of yesterday. There comes a time when we realise that most of our difficult times were actually worthy as they certainly contributed to our personal freedom and empowerment. Today, I wish to help someone somewhere find some answers and awaken to the realisation that impossibility is only an illusion. And reality is only made by choice.
You are not alone, we are all connected, and my story is the memory of some sort of your experience here on earth. Today, I know that a problem is actually the solution when it is shared. I would not go any deeper than that as the purpose is to understand that we are all connected.
I am Marie Paula, an intuitive psychic, spiritual coach, and healer, writer, actress and director of Remember Who You Are. Most of all, I am a mother, sister, daughter and friend.
Most of my beautiful talents were discovered by surprise. I never really dreamt of becoming any of these titles; I dreamt of having a good life, being financially free, having beautiful children, and a husband with whom I would share a fairytale love story. As a little girl, my dream was to become a lawyer, then by the age of eighteen I became more of a business-minded girl and decided to study International Business. I got my first degree, then started my masters in Human Resources Management. Things have turned out quite differently I must say.
I am so grateful to have been given the dream and drive to write and be inspired by the art of writing. This inspired vision to share my story and the divine messages received through my journey has helped me understand my power and contribution to myself and the world surrounding me. Today, I have become more attuned with my inner self than I could ever have thought possible. I am living my true-life purpose by just being me and doing what I love with effortless effort.
The most empowering part is the phase at which I was at the time of change. I was lost, searching for answers. I was going through financial difficulties. I was broke. Three months prior, I resigned from my day job as an IT Advisor, which was my only source of income in the hope of starting my passion and completing my master’s degree in Human Resources Management. Out of stress and confusion, I mistakenly missed two exams and was exempted from the entire program with the potential of losing £9000 of investment, which was my dad’s money. As if that was not enough, my long-term relationship with the one I genuinely thought was my lifelong companion was reaching a dead end. It was draining, it was heavy, and completely ungrounded. We shared the most beautiful gift together; a baby girl, who was so bright, so right, and beautifully amazing, but everything else around was crashing by the second and I did not know what to do.
My only weapon was hope. I was blessed with the sacrament of motherhood and it was simply uplifting. My faith was alive as I knew that someone somewhere knew me, my pain, my limitations, my intentions, and most importantly, my heart. I was confused but also open. I was just tired of being tired. I did not want to feel that I had to be so strong for once in my life but I was disposed and available to hear and receive guidance.
By now, most of us understand that there is more to life than just our conditions, right?
By conditions, I mean the belief system engraved in our mind that dictates our everyday decision-making process. The truth is, it is not our fault but there is something called choice. The question is how do we always know when we are making a useful choice? The choice that is needed rather than wanted.
Let’s go back to the conditioning system, shall we? We all have a story; we all have a book within us and each and every day we are representing our story.
Growing up we were used to a certain way of connecting with ourselves and the world. We have heard a way of listening; we have seen a way of visualising and we have experienced a way of living. Sometimes the conditioning system works in our favour, yet most times it does not; actually, it goes against who we really are. The good news is, we can become what we need and also what we desire at any particular time by just reconditioning our mind, right? It’s that simple.
But the realisation is even the simplest things become the hardest when we are living purely on conditions. For example: When you look at yourself in the mirror and believe you are physically fat, you are subconsciously saying that being fat is your worth. In order to change your image, you must first change your belief. But how do you truthfully become mentally and emotionally thin and healthy when your physical appearance is clearly showing you the opposite? I really sympathise with that; it is not that simple, but it is possible. Where there is possibility, there is ability.
Just like the title of the book, the purpose is to remember who we really are. And that is the simple truth whether we know, understand or accept it, does not make a change, it is a natural law of humanity and living.
Remembering who you are is simply taking the time to acknowledge and connect to your authentic self through God, the higher power, the universe. Name it as you like, git means the same thing.
I call it God. It makes me smile and tickles my fancy. It is simply the one and only, the real life in mankind, the true love from true God… I can go on and on and on defining that power to write a second book.
The question is, what is the purpose of birth and humanity? What are we here for or why are we even here? Is it by pure coincidence on two people falling in love and going through the process of creation and reproduction whether planned or not? Is it purely on right timing, and objective planning? I mean, what is it really?
Let’s go back to the root and take a pick in the bible, which is a very general and open book for everyone to refer to at any time. John refers to the beginning of existence in his words which have for a long time been subject of controversy, but we are not to dig into that, but just think of the simplistic way of relating the words to our existence.
"In the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God, he was in the beginning with God." – John 1: 1-2
As it clearly states in the beginning, it is vital that we understand where we stand in that sentence, and therefore, the controversy has been to really understand the meaning of John’s vision. People have interpreted the words in different ways; the most common is that the word in the beginning is considered as Jesus Christ and his arrival on earth from heaven. Let’s look at the sentence a little deeper, whether the word is referred to as Jesus Christ or actually the scripture means God had a plan. The plan of God either as Jesus Christ or his words was the beginning of our creation, and through this plan, we were born and incarnated into earth.
All things came into being through him, and apart from him nothing came into being that has come into being.
– John 1: 3
Everything was made through him and the plan to represent and follow his vision on earth by taking Jesus Christ or his scriptures as a map of human existence and way of living.
In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
– John 1: 4
God is the consciousness in mankind. He lives and communicates in each and every one of us relatively to represent his vision and plan in our everyday lives. And through the vision, each and every one of us was born with a unique mission to contribute to the plan in the world. We are God’s game plan in the best and most loving way.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
– John 1: 5
