    What is stoicism?

Most people want to live the best life possible. There are many who are constantly looking for ways to make themselves happier, more successful, or more positive. There are also many who struggle with creating this type of life for various reasons. Some of these reasons can stem from childhood trauma or problems while other reasons stem from situations in adult life. No matter what the reason is that you feel is keeping you from reaching your best life, you need to know that it’s possible to overcome it and this book is one way that can help you.

Stoicism is a word you might have heard of in the past, whether it was in school or because you ran into it online or somewhere else. It’s often a word that makes people think of statues of ancient Greece. But Stoicism is so much more than that. Stoicism is a way of life that can help you achieve happiness and freedom from your emotions that control you. Through Stoicism, you will learn how to control your emotions so when you make decisions, YOU'RE making the decisions and not your emotions.

At this point, I feel it’s important for me to discuss how the word understanding is an important part of a Stoic’s beliefs. When a person is understanding of situations, they are more likely to remain in control of their emotions during situations, even when the situations become chaotic. On top of this, you’re more likely to think clearly, or logically, when you are understanding. In terms, understanding means that you can comprehend the situation and you’re sympathetic to the way other people feel. Once you are able to reach the level of understanding situations or how a person feels, you’ll be able to control your emotions, which will allow you to remain calm. If you don’t understand the situation, you’re going to have a harder time controlling your emotions and remaining calm. This often happens because people have unanswered questions or the misunderstanding makes them feel frustrated, angry, or negatively in another way.

Through the exercises and the techniques you will learn when you practice Stoicism, you will be able to satisfy your hunger for happiness. While people are generally happy, they often feel the need for more to completely satisfy their happiness. For example, when someone increases their income with a new job or raise, they will be happy and content with this income for a while but will feel a hunger for a larger income later. People who practice Stoicism won’t feel this hunger as they are happy with what they have. Stoics don’t have a list of desires that they feel will satisfy their happiness. This is because
