- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I truly am in love with this cookbook for young ones. In fact this will be my gift to fellow grandparents. You can personalize the book making it a keepsake for your own children or the grands. I think children will find most of the recipes quite appealing and if it is a food they are reluctant to try, they just might if they had a hand in preparation. In this book you will find recipes for each meal of the day along with beverages. sides, dessert, and snack choices. For example: apple cinnamon overnight oats, veggie fried rice, cinnamon sugar popcorn, strawberry and orange slush, sheet pan fajitas, creamy Mexican rice and berry shortcrust cobbler. The recipes are well presented and easy to follow. There are also suggestions for substitutions, thus making cooking an impromptu adventure. “No cornstarch, simply sub the same amount of flour.” Then there are the recipes for laughter… How do you make an egg roll? Just give it a little push.” We’ll you might not find it funny but a six year old will think it is hilarious even if they don’t get it! At the end of the book are talking tips and fun suggestions for adults and children to do together when the cooking is done or while waiting for it to bake. The text is encouraging to the young chefs who will be doing the cooking as well a caution when the adult needs to be directly involved.Users will enjoy the playful illustrations. This cookbook is an excellent resource that will provide fun and nourishment for kids. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
