About the Author Bradon Kane came from the midwest with a singular purpose in mind, to make the world a little bit dirtier and a lot a bit weirder. Once he realized that He was the magical pixie girl of his dreams, he started to unlock his full potential. His journey will never cease and will take him to a new place daily.  Author Philosophy My books don't have to be everything for everyone, but they will never be the same thing. Romance happens every day in ways we cannot imagine, and romance books need to be quite a bit stranger than real life. The only promise I make about my stories is to take you on a fantastical journey.  Follower me on twitter.com/brandedtoe to find out what I am doing at the moment.

Becoming the Catgirl - Brandon Kane

    1

Itook the luggage up to the cabin while my wife went to the ship's bar, the Maelstrom.

Shaya was just getting familiarized with the layout of the ship, I thought. This trip wasn't going to be much fun if my wife stayed in the bar the whole time.

I received a letter in the mail letting me know that I won a free cruise—a week-long trip on a ship named The Dagon. The company called it a 'Cruise to Nowhere.' The week-long journey seemed a bit much to be without a stop in port. I would have thrown the mailer out except for the details of the letter.

I have never seen any mailers made of parchment, hand-written, and sealed with a wax seal, the bright wax indented with a triangle containing an intricate spiral. The refined touches were too elegant for a typical advertisement.

I threw my suitcase on the bed and started to unpack. Shaya was on her own. If she wanted her stuff put away, she could organize her drawers. I felt guilty immediately after the thought.

No, I should try to put her stuff away.

So, after I got my stuff into the drawers, I started to work on her stuff. I lifted the new Avacado green hard suitcases onto the bureaus. I started with the smallest; the one Shaya had chosen for her essentials.

The first thing I pulled from the case was a set of loose socks. The luggage contained her bathroom supplies and only this pair of socks, so the single pair was unusual. When I lifted the sock, something fell out.

    Shaya's wedding ring.

Shaya was in the bar , wearing high waisted jeans, a tube top, and a jacket with shoulder pads. Now her permed hair was dripping over her tanned, bare shoulders. She was leaning into the bar, her arms pushing into her breasts to enhance what she had there. I could see why. The bartender looked to be in his early twenties with a slick hairstyle, sleek face, and kind face.

The bartender coughed and pointed over Shaya's shoulders at me.

Shaya turned around, and for a second, I could see the disappointment her face.

Justin, I thought you were going to unpack the bags first? She recovered and smiled.

I was, but you forgot something.

I handed over her wedding ring. I had been suspicious of Shaya for a few weeks now. Between the calls to our home where people would hang up when I answered, going out late with the girls on weekdays, and our mutual friends never recalling those girl's night, I thought that Shaya was cheating on me. I was determined to make it work and shouldered the blame of her infidelity on my shoulders.

We had been going through some rough patches, and their relationship wasn't getting better. I had hoped that this cruise could bring us back together, but we were drifting apart again.

    Justin, I...

You should keep that in your pockets if you are going to take that off for the bar, I said.

This isn't what it looks like... I wasn't listening anymore. Last week, a guy came by the house and seemed pretty shocked that I was there.

We both know what you are doing.

I can't believe you are doing this to me. She said. We came on this boat to get away from all of our problems.

And you couldn't wait for five minutes.

    That's not fair. I was...

Hey, man. I said to the bartender. Can I get something to drink?

I can't believe you are doing this right now.

I'm not doing anything. I am just getting a drink.

I'll be in our cabin when you get off your high horse.
