Part 2: The Tooth Hurts
Within the space of ten minutes I go from starin’ down into a pit of death to sippin’ on a glass of wine. Least I think it’s wine. I stopped drinkin’ it years ago. Damn stuff always gives me the shits. I ain’t gonna refuse though. Not from the Fairy G. No sirree.
So, I’m sittin’ in this big ass office. Top floor as well. She even had a special key card. ‘Spose when you’re the top dog, you get these priv’leges. Her office is cream white. The walls, floor, desk – even the padded leather seats. I feel like I’m stinking up the place just by bein’ there. Breathin’ her air.
She’s standing behind her desk, back to me, looking out a window. We’re pretty high up. Ten floors or so I reckon. She’s wearing a pink ballgown. I don’t even remember her changin’. Some of that fairy magic I guess. Neat trick. Wonder who does her dry cleanin’?
You think it odd – being here?
She doesn’t turn around. There’s a cactus on her table. It’s white too. Bulbous little thing like a hairy albino sack. I pour the rest of my wine into the top soil. She glances at me just as I lean back.
You think me odd – sparing your life?
Not at all. Great decision if you ask me.
She swallows her drink in one go. You would say that though.
No, no. Straight up. I think it showed real character,
