OVERCOMING THROUGH THE BLOOD OF JESUS

Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

—ROMANS 5:9

JESUS IS THE author and the finisher of our faith. His blood is the starting point of our relationship with God, and the same blood allows us to overcome throughout our earthly life until we meet Him face to face! The blood of Jesus offers us a covenant relationship that lasts through eternity.

Physically, the human blood has many functions, and one would not be able to survive without healthy blood. Some of the benefits are that it carries nutrients and oxygen to various parts of the body. It removes the waste in the form of carbon dioxide from the cells. It also protects the body from infections, and it regulates the body temperature.

In the same manner, the blood of Jesus has many spiritual benefits for us. Through the blood of Jesus we become born again. God breathes into our nostrils the breath of life, and our spirit man comes alive through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. His blood cleanses our conscience from past sins, so the enemy can’t use them to keep us guilty and ashamed any longer.

Jesus’ blood allows us to be overcomers in various trials, temptations, and difficulties. Just as the Israelites applied the blood of the lamb over their doorposts to avoid the judgment of God, we can apply the blood of Jesus over our household, our children, and our possessions. His blood protects us from the evil one, and it also protects us from the wrath of God at the end of the age. We belong to Jesus, and His blood is our covenant relationship with Him that allows darkness to pass over us!

As a loved son or daughter of Christ, we are adopted into His family, and we have His blood in common with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We used to be orphans, but now we belong to a family, and we are from the same bloodline as Christ Jesus.
