About this ebook

From the Authors of Devil's Night and the publishers of The Little Book of Harm, comes Bloody Stockings, a collection of bite-sized horror stories for Christmas.

Winter is somehow a far more sinister time, and in Bloody Stockings, the chill has fully set in.

Between these blood-soaked pages you'll find tales of murderous carollers, a urine-soaked Elvis impersonator, lonely snowmen, an unconventional advent calendar, flaming turkeys, and humbugs looking for a place to nest.
So, sit down in front of the fire with the ones you love the most (and your family too), gorge yourself on gingerbread, guzzle down all the eggnog you want, and enjoy our ode to the second most wonderful time of the year.

"If you're looking for a fun holiday read whilst trying to keep down your Christmas dinner, or you need a fix of some dastardly cruel tales, you're in the right place!"
★★★★★
Drew Forrest author of The Screaming Scarecrows of Silence Falls

"This is the first book I have read from this collaboration and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book is the perfect stocking filler for all Horror lovers. As the blurb says it is blood-soaked."
★★★★★
Yvonne Davies reviewer, formerly Terror Tree

"If you read Poisoned Candy and loved it, there is no excuse to not get this one as well. It's a perfect reading companion for the Christmas season."
★★★★★
Nelson W. Pyles - Author, Creator and executive producer of The Wicked Library

And for reasons that should be BLATANTLY OBVIOUS, this book is very much NOT FOR CHILDREN.

    Trigger Warning

This book touches on sensitive issues such as abuse, murder, cannibalism, torture, torn colostomy bags, animal abuse, swearing, disease, bullying, necrophilia, nostalgia, bodily fluids

—which, let’s be honest here, shall we, are all pretty much the same thing.

The publishers advise readers to proceed with caution; you have been warned.

Hello, publishers here again, consider this a second warning. There’s some tasteless shit in this book.

If you read on and get upset,

that is very much your fault.

    Introduction

Season’s greetings! Pilgrim here again to write that thing that no-one reads.

I feel it would be disingenuous to let you continue without even a little warning that this collection is a completely different beast to 2018’s Poisoned Candy.

When prepping for that collection, we laughed a lot (and I do mean a lot)−there’s just something impossibly fun about goblins, evil neighbours, tainted Halloween treats. The supernatural is everywhere, lurking, watching−it’s just as likely to eat you as anything else.

But yule is somehow a far more sinister time. The chill has fully set in, the leaves are rotting on the ground leaving naked skeletal trees, death really is everywhere you look.

And whilst the ghosties and ghoulies could conceivably be used as scapegoats on an autumn night, they have somehow vacated the premises.

And all that is left is the scariest of all monsters−us.

Of all the things I write about, people scare me the most.

Another major difference (and I’m convinced that this is a DIRECT result of writing about thems peskies humanses): about a third of the way into the draft, Pippa and I realised that the drabble format just wasn’t going to cut the turkey on this one.

(A drabble being a story of exactly 100 words, no more, no less)

We both think that the resulting collection you hold in your hands is much stronger and deeper cutting as a result.

So, sit down in front of the fire with the ones you love the most (and your family too), gorge yourself on mince pies, guzzle down all the eggnog you like (remember, it’s fat free), and enjoy our ode to the second most wonderful time of the year.

P.S. This book contains no fucking zombie stories. None, Nada, The Big Goose Egg, Nix, Honestly, we just didn’t bother. We’ve already filled our zombie story quota with Poisoned Candy.
