‘Christmas involves a suspension of disbelief’
We all carry our favourite places in our minds. I can describe, in minute detail, the view of my grandmother’s Dublin kitchen from a vantage point beneath the dining table. She’s gone now, and the kitchen is modernised, but that warm, fuggy kitchen endures in my imagination.
Some of those places aren’t real. I have a personal Pemberley, perhaps you have your own Manderley or Bleak House. Having, I have a personal Ambridge, and it was mind-bending to be invited to write about it.
